Cheerful restaurant dispensing Greek staples, wine & beer in casual, colorful surroundings.

I had Louis Pappas about a month ago where the Junior League of Tampa had catered it for an event. I was shocked with how quality it all was for such a massive order. I was also shocked I had never heard of it. I went yesterday for the first time to have it in person and was blown away at the quality of food in terms of how fresh EVERYTHING was and how efficient the service was. The staff was so so wonderful. Cassie, Clayton, & Joy were all such a pleasure to meet and speak to. I’ll be happy to go support them in their new location opening in Largo. Getting into the food – here’s what we ordered and thoughts on each:
– Trio of Spreads: Pesto Hummus, Roasted Garlic Feta, Tzatziki w/ grilled & fried pita chips. Each dip was INSANE and you could tell by the taste they were not only homemade but made to order. My favorite was the whipped feta but i could genuinely eat each of them everyday. They asked if we wanted the pita grilled or fried and when I asked which was better they gave us both! And I’m so glad they did because I really enjoyed both and had never had fried pita before (delicious of course). I will be getting this every time. I do remember the dips going crazy when we had gotten it catered and they hit just as hard this time around.
– Chopped Greek Salad w/ potato salad. I had this infamous dish when we had it catered and I was literally addicted to the potato salad. I remember I had a plate of everything else then went back for a full plate of the potato salad. I definitely recommend getting this salad chopped over the traditional way as it is much easier to eat. So unique they add the pasta salad to it!!
– Chicken Souvlaki Pita. I always get gyro pitas so was trying to switch it up here and I was so glad to finally try Chicken Souvlaki (I’ve had Greek sooo many times but never tried it) and it was SO yum. Definitely a good change of pace for me.
– Gyro Pita Platter. Still needed to try out their gyro so got the platter which is basically a deconstructed pita. I love that you’re able to add as much or little of each of the ingredients – it reminds me of taco nights! The gyro was fire of course.
– Greek Feta Fries. These were seasoned to PERFECTION. I was stuffed but couldn’t stop eating them. You gotta order these at every Greek place and constantly compare. These were a wedge vibe and the perfect amount of potato in my opinion (I’m Irish so I prefer a thick steak fry to a skinny mcdonald’s fry). The flavor went crazy.
EXTRA SAUCES – DONT SLEEP ON THE SPICY TZATZIKI

In addition to having delicious food (the fries and gyro were fantastic!), the customer service was top class. It’s been a stressful week with the holidays, and we accidentally placed a large order to the wrong location. When I showed up to pickup the food, they were incredibly understanding, and not only did they not charge us for cancelling the wrong order, they bumped us up in line for our new order so we wouldn’t have to wait very long. It was such a surprise and they really made our day! It’s rare to see such great customer service in today’s day and age, and they definitely won some life long Louis Pappas fans!

We went here for lunch this past Saturday and the food was good. The Greek fries were the best, perfectly fried and seasoned. The potato salad was good. My daughter was ok with the souvlaki. The service was fantastic, very friendly.

The restaurant was very friendly and the hostess was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. She anticipated issues and made great recommendations. I could not begin to finish the salad, however, I did achieve clean plate club with the gyro. To see how awesome the food looked just see my pics. Also, come in from the east for easier access to parking.

Great find! When we walked in I wasn’t too sure about the place because it had a fast food look about it…but so glad we gave it a try! It was just me and my husband – we had the trio of dips, roast chicken, and a chicken bowl. There was enough food to feed 4 people easily, so we ended up taking enough leftovers home for a second dinner. Everything tasted great!

My second time going to a papas Greek restaurant! Out of all the Greek restaurants I’ve been to in the Tampa area so far, this is definitely my favorite one. All of their food is always so fresh! I love all their salads. My favorite is doing a Greek salad with some of the Euro meat!

They should seriously evaluate how bad they have let the food quality get. The Greek salad is not good and if I don’t check for dressing it is almost never in the bag. Macdonalds is better that this point. Sincerely wish these restaurants would stop sacrificing food quality for profit margins and returned back to good food.

Stopped in for a quick bite and was not disappointed. The Tampa Cuban was a no frills classic Cuban sandwich that was quite good. Looks like they have a really good Greek salad, but I didn’t try it.

Went in for lunch, had the chicken avgolemono soup, and the cafe salad with potato salad. Chicken soup was amazing and came with fresh bread. The salad was just okay and had a LOT of shredded iceberg lettuce. Dressing lacked some flavor. The potato salad is very good and with a generous portion. Would definitely come back for the soup, bread, and potato salad.

The original Greek Salad stemming from the once locally central Florida famous “Louis Pappas” restaurant in Tarpons Springs Greek river side sea sponge village in 1925 then later a location in St Pete Beach. Now decades and nearly a century later the famous name and salads are a franchise keeping the things that made them famous, the Greek Salad and Baklava. The correctly chilled freshest ingredients for the salad and the can never be duplicated famous dressing. I can remeber Saturday/Sunday road trips to Tarpon Springs for salad and of course the best freshest Baklava for desert! Parking is easy and ground level.
