The drinks were great, and I highly recommend trying their Crème Brûlée—it was absolutely amazing. However, I found the chicken (on the menu as “Coq au Vin”) a bit overpriced at $45 for a small airline chicken breast with a wing tip. Don’t get me wrong, it delicious (it’s chicken over a wine reduction sauce with mashed potatoes, see photos) but it left me still quite hungry. If I could do it again, I’d skip the chicken and go straight for the BBQ chicken pizza. It was fantastic and definitely worth the order! My husband had the burger, and he said it was decent.
Overall, a fun spot with great service and a lively atmosphere, but choose your menu items wisely to get the most value!
Chateau Elan has been beautifully refurbished and this bar was eccentric and vibrant. The staff was nice for the most part, but very cluttered and came across unorganized.
We had to wait a bit to get service and when we did find a table it was dirty so we had to clean it. Even the chairs were dingy.
The drinks were okay. They need to check the balance of their cocktails prior to sending them out. When we finally did get our drinks they were beautifully presented. Although the vermouth needs to be checked.
Let go to the nightmare that they call food. We ordered the shrimp tempura , seared tuna tartar, the chicken wings, and the BBQ sliders.
The seafood dishes were covered, completely covered, with stale bean curds. Bean curds take maybe 1 minute to fry up and they were stale, that is just lazy to me.
The shrimp was greasy and tasted off, so either the shrimp was old, the grease trap needs to be changed out badly, or they were sitting out for far too long. The seared tuna was just bad. The spicy mayo was a bad choice for seasoning and the cabbage paired with it had gone brown. I mean, what a lazy uninspired dish- do you really hate your customers that much? Put a ponzu scauce with seared tuna, a mayo is too heavy and disgusting.
Moving on from that headache, we have the wings. The wings were blah. My partner said that going to a Taco Mac would have been better, and the price from those pathetic excuse for wings was astronomical. Its like they are trying to drive people away. Finally the sliders looked lovely and were probably the best part of the meal would it not have been for the stale buns.
We were so excited to come here and enjoy ourselves but it was simply disappointing. We waited 1 hour and 50 minutes for over priced food that was not worth our time or money.
We did say something to our server, but were not offered a discount or anything for our troubles. We didn’t see a manger at all And we are not ones to make a scene so we paid $157 for a terrible evening. When they clean up the bar and get a new chef we are happy to return, but until then we won’t be returning.
If you stay at the chateau and need a late night snack/ drink save yourself some time and go elsewhere.
