This is a place that has let their awards go to their head. We went for lunch as we were in the area. You enter and wait in line in the heat (no A/C In 100 degree weather). The wait takes forever as the line barely moves. It took almost an hour to get up to the counter to order. Their soda area is right by the line so people were constantly needing access to fresh drinks. There was not a menu for you to look at before you got to the counter. We ordered bbq sandwiches. They do not toast the bun and wanted to add everything right on the sandwich. I had to ask for everything on the side or it would have been a soggy mess. The prices were excessively high. The flavor of the brisket was not impressive, but the sausage was very good. The potato salad was decent. The next room is air conditioned and felt great after sweltering for an hour. Overall we were not favorably impressed.

Excellent place to get top quality central Texas smoked BBQ. As you walk in, you’re hit with the aroma of smoked meat coming from behind a counter in a dark room. It looks like it should, no frills, just great BBQ. The side room is air-conditioned and has a lot of character with old art pieces and a piano in a corner. The staff is helpful and welcoming and parking is plentiful. Highly recommend.

There was a bit of greasiness, but the flavor of the ingredients was brought out well, so our party enjoyed it. Especially the brisket was impressive, and it was a good experience in Taylor City.

Absolutely the best sausage link I have ever tasted. We have done the Lockhart BBQ crawl and thought we had experienced the best…. we were wrong. Louie Mueller has them all beat. Brisket and sausage were amazing! The pure feel of the restaurant is something that all Texas BBQ fanatics will rejoice in. Seeing Wayne Mueller slicing your brisket makes you feel like you are a part of BBQ history. The young lady serving the ice cream was super nice to our 10 year old daughter and made her feel special. This was definitely worth the 4-hour drive. We will be back!

I’ve eaten a lot of brisket in Texas including the other meullers and Franklin, interstellar, etc and this brisket wasn’t as good as even Rudy’s imo. The fatty moist didn’t render out and had way too much fat. The bark wasn’t very flavorful either. The sauce was good and heads up, it’s the one in the red ketchup lookin bottle (the other stuff is sweet for pork). Mac n cheese was honestly gross and grainy, pretty sure it’s powdered cheese. Pulled pork wasn’t anything special but that’s what my kid wanted. I didn’t have ribs or sausage as they sold out so I can’t speak to those and I know a lot of people who come here come for that. But if you’re gonna drive out for $32 a pound brisket then go somewhere else. Ambiance is very Texas but the main room has no ac. I wouldn’t ever line up for this bbq especially not outside or in the main room that doesn’t have ac. The room next door does though. Bathrooms smelled like pee. There’s just way better brisket out there. Super friendly employees though.

I got the beef rib that feeds three. Oh my! Amazing. If I were you, go. Go now. Get the beef rib. Don’t forget the banana pudding too.

First time going to this restaurant and it was good. I arrived on Saturday before it opens and a line was outside. My spot in line was not too bad but it took an hour before I reached the counter to order. Restaurant manager who was working the orders was very nice and talkative . Ordered brisket, sausage (original & jalapeno), potato salad, mac & cheese and the pinto beans. If you feel like taking a little road trip for some BBQ check out this place. Next time I might get the beef rib since they are known for them.

We arrived from San Antonio on Sat about 1105am. Already a line of about 15 people so not as crowded as we suspected. Line to order was a little slow. They have a specific procedure of ordering, getting food, paying so be patient. Food all in all was good. Pulled pork sandwich was better than the chopped beef sandwich. Potato salad was good. Coleslaw had very little, if no taste/flavor. Macaroni & cheese was a hit with everyone. Link sausage-original was good. We will try the other BBQ joint mentioned on Google reviews. Spacious place, fills up quick and sells out quickly. Great friendly service here. Give them a try
