The Big Breakfast is terrific with great pancakes and a plate overflowing with eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and toast. The apple crisp waffle was good tho some of the apples seemed to be a bit underdone and were crunchier than expected, still tasted great just not quite the best texture. Hot chocolate with the whipped cream is fantastic (tho apparently a bit watery without).
A bonus is that it’s wheelchair accessible and large enough booths to seat heftier individuals such as myself.
They are CASH ONLY, but have an ATM 🙂
proper American diner which I love. Chatty service from the lady behind the counter and very friendly, all the locals sitting on stools catching up and great food. Like I said, proper diner.
The surprise? A table of 4 gents behind us were chatting away and using quite a few f words. I politely turned around and simply asked if they could be aware of it due to my daughter. They apologised and no more swear words. Then I went to pay. Uh oh. Cash only. I had forgotten. The lovely lady said don’t worry just come back when you can with the cash. I left my Mother in Law’s name and number so there was a local contact. We left.
When I got back to the house, my Mother in Law said there had been a phone call to say don’t worry about coming back, the bill has been paid. It could only have been the gentleman and friends I spoke with. What a brilliant thing to do. I was touched and full of appreciation.
If anyone at the diner reads this and can thank the gentleman for me, much appreciated.
Restores your faith in human kind. And go to Lou Roc’s. It’s a proper diner on all levels.
Thanks,
James.
“Homemade” corned beef hash was very disappointing. Most breakfast places give you big chunks of corned beef when it’s “homemade”. This was a small amount of ground corned beef mixed with a ton of potatoes. I could hardly taste the beef at all. Served with home fries- so the plate was almost all potatoes.
I get the big breakfast with pancakes. It’s always too much but I still order it anyways lol. The pancakes are fluffy and they actually do a great job executing my soft scrambled eggs. They also have some of the best pork sausage I’ve had at other restaurants.
The place is relatively small being an old school diner but the atmosphere is great.
One honorable mention is that they only accept cash. I only had credit cards with me and I did not have a pin for the cards. They trusted me to eat and come back and pay the bill. They will always be number one for me.
