The main issues being as follows:
First, I no longer consider delivery a valid option. Ordering pizza delivered from here is asking for a $50 disappointment and soggy mess. Your sauce and toppings will also be halfway slid off the pizza and the box will be soaked MOST of the time. Most drivers either turn way too quickly or do not understand how to keep it properly flat because the pizza is ALWAYS perfect when I bring it home myself.
Second, I often get pizzas that don’t seem to be cooked properly and have a weird taste that is far from preferable. I don’t know the process exactly, but sometimes something just tastes off about the crust or the cheese, or something. I have a huge sample size of pizzas from this place, so I know damn well when something isn’t right. My hunch is that things are undercooked so I have started to order mine well-done as a preventative measure and have not been disappointed Other than sometimes it ends up a liiiiittle bit too done.
Lastly, and this is more of a customer suggestion than a complaint, but be careful how many toppings you pile on because these pizzas can get very wet and it can ruin them if you add too much. Less is more, and I recommend sticking to one topping or specialty pizzas as they are on the menu.
All things considered, great food overall, friendly staff, and I look forward to seeing steady improvement as I continue ordering going forward.
This location is carry-out only. We placed an order for two small pizzas. One was cheese because we wanted to compare it to Buddy’s and Cloverleaf’s, and the other was their signature sausage (the one they’re famous for). They told us to come back in 30 minutes. While waiting, I picked up a small tub of Malnati’s very own shaved ice in the lemon flavour. Both my mom and I thought it was too salty. My dad liked it but agreed. The nutrition label said the tub had 10 mg.
Onto the pizza. I’ll be blunt. Detroit beats Chicago. The cheese pizza from Malnati’s was a let down. But the sausage does compete with Buddy’s and Cloverleaf. I loved that the sausage wasn’t spicy and that it added a lot of flavour. From me, the cheese pizza gets a 7.8, but the sausage, a 9.0/10.
The bill was $41.02 USD.
This result surprised me. Keep in mind that Chicago is light years ahead of Ontario. I would take Malnati’s cheese over any pizza from southern Ontario.
