I live in Catalunya, but I’ll never forget the Pad Thai Duck from Lotus Thai Cuisine in Guttenberg, NJ.
The duck was incredible—crispy, juicy, and full of flavor, served over perfectly stir-fried noodles.
Andrés, our waiter, was kind, attentive, and made us feel right at home.
I truly hope I can return someday. That dish stayed with me.

This place was recommended to me by a Spanish friend who said it was the “best thai restaurant”. They both have an indoor and an outdoor backyard setting with great EDM music.
I took my family here for mother’s day and I’m not sure why it has 4.2 stars? As an asian, this is an embarrassment and thai food DO NOT taste like this.
– Pad Thai, is supposed to be sweet, sour, salty, and peanuty but this pad thai tasted like it has ketchup or food coloring in it.
– the Duck Basil and Pork Basil tasted the same as their sauteed mixed vegetables, like they have only 1 recipe for the sauteed dishes.
– Papaya salad and Mango salad was confusing as hell. To me it tasted like pickled papaya and just put mango on top to make it a mango salad. At least the calamari was decent.
– Let me not forget to mention that the waiter never wrote our orders but memorized it instead, and FORGOT to put in the Fried Fish that we ordered. We ended up waiting for 20 minutes after we finished eating everything to find out the main dish was not coming. They also ran out of Red Snapper and only have Seabass. But it never came!
– You would know if its authentic thai if the cook/chef/waiters working are thai. Most of them are Spanish. Asians have a different palate.
Overall, if you’re looking for authentic thai food? Do not come to this place. But if you’re just looking for good music and a backyard party vibe place without minding the food, then go for it.
Parking is hard to find with paid street parking signs everywhere.

Found Lotus Thai by accident, difficult area to park, it is in a neighborhood with just on street parking. We were there on Mother’s Day and they had a lot of great specials. The Chrispy Duck with Peanut Rama sauce was incredibly delicious and with a good portion of duck. My daughter had the Pad Thai Duck. Which also was very good. If the weather is nice, sit outside in the Garden Room. A++

Such a vibe sitting out in the back patio. Loved the food! The steamed chicken dumplings were amazing! The Pad Cashew Nut with shrimp was appetizing! Most of all, the service was spectacular! Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been ordering the Chicken Pad Thai from this restaurant for a while, and it used to be just okay. But my most recent order was absolutely inedible. It was extremely dry, the noodles were rubbery, and the dish had no flavor whatsoever. I basically threw my money away.
I don’t know if the restaurant changed management or hired a new chef, but the quality has completely collapsed. It was simply horrible. This place will never see my money again, and neither will my friends or family. A complete disregard for the customers.

Quaint and cozy spot that has not been tarnished by the pandemic. The food is delicious and served meticulously. At the suggestion of my waiter I had salmon in peanut sauce served over rice and a green salad beautifully prepared making a very impressive presentation. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable.
I spent $30 for this meal including a cup of green tea. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

We saw this restaurant listed as the best Thai restaurant in NJ, so we came for a birthday lunch.
Service by Maritza was excellent. But I wouldn’t say this was the best Thai restaurant in NJ… The food was ok. I would have rated this 3.5 if the system let us.
Thai Iced Tea with Lychee and with Guava – they were good just a bit too sweet
Appetizer Platter: Curry Puff; Dumplings; Spring Roll; Fritter & Chicken Sate – they were just ok
Dumplings and Calamari – again, just ok
Duck Shu Shee – now this is where they shined, the duck was crispy, and the sauce was delicious!
Basil Duck – meh, not very flavorful…
