We’ve been enjoying dining at Lotus for the past year or so. Our favorite items are the pork bahn mi sandwich (super delicious seasoned meat and crisp baguette that isn’t too bread-y) and the rare beef pho with beef broth. My husband and I usually split those two things. If we want an appetizer the firecracker shrimp and the fresh spring rolls are very good. The service is usually friendly, however at times when they are very busy they seem a bit overwhelmed and could use an extra employee or two.

I hate leaving bad reviews but this is exactly the type of restaurants I hate. An American restaurant trying to have their take on being an upscale ethnic restaurant. In this case, a premium Vietnamese restaurant. Prices were higher than most places but they only give you disposable chopsticks, a little bit of vegetables and no sauce dipping plates. The taste was ok but definitely American style and not Vietnamese. Our pho had lots of oil, msg and sugar but little to no taste of traditional herbs. The waiter never came back to refill our water after giving us our food. There was one unisex bathroom for the whole restaurant. Decor was a blend of Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Seems like someone just thought it’s ok because all Asians are the same…
You can say it’s a Vietnamese inspired restaurant, but saying it is one is a bit false advertising.

Very impressed with this small place great Vietnamese food. We had the chicken hot pot and a choice dish with pork. Both excellent and an order of Garlic noodles for $1.00 add on.. Along with a few glasses of good Edna Valley Pinot

A surprise find on accident… but what a pleasure!! The flavors of the sauces were super deep and developed! The Yellow Curry was amazing! And the French Baguette was light and fluffy inside and crispy outside… just perfect! The dipping sauce with the Fresh Rolls was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Pho was good too!
The only area of improvement might be that when the restaurant got slammed (every single table was full) the staff got lost a little of the customer service friendliness with the busyness. Just a quick reminder from Management should fix this issue.
We’ll be back next time we are through SLO…

Food was good. Prices are ok. Bahn mi was a little too much bread vs meat/veggies but it tasted good. The total for 4 of us was $120 with tip included.

I came here per a friends recommendation for the bahn mi sandwich. The flavor was very good, although I think it would be better with just a little more meat. I got the sandwich to go and they had it ready pretty quick. The staff here are extremely friendly and the restaurant is cozy.

We came here for lunch and the staff said we could seat ourselves anywhere including outside. There wasn’t a lot of shade, but we found a table and enjoyed the ambiance. Service was very slow to initially greet and then get waters, but the food wasnt too long of a wait after ordering.
Got a banh mi sandwich that was a pretty decent size, overall good flavor, but not the best I’ve had somewhat lacking in the jalepeno bite and no dipping sauce.
Most of the menu for lunch is between $10-$20. My friends were happy with their Pho and both the small and large we’re enough for leftovers.

I love lotus for two reasons, bahn mi and fire cracker fries. This place changed my life! Everywhere I go now I always look for a good bahn mi place. But I always came back here because they do it right. They also have other great dishes that I love, especially their vermicelli dish and crispy chicken plate!
