This place is not family-friendly (for those visiting with families and have kids that are picky eaters) nor patron friendly. First, there are poor reviews posted here already, so the food is suspect. Second, the female cashier person is extremely unfriendly and has no customer service skills at all. Third, the cashier person won’t allow a parent to come inside and look at the food to see the quality of it, or the variety of it (picky child eaters, beware) unless you pay for it first. In other words, their Messiah is worried we are going to rob them by tricking them into allowing entry and then eating the food and leaving without paying. No Jesus the Messiah, us parents are not going to eat and then run with our kids out the door. So that makes your whole “Jesus is the Messiah” message very “sus” to me. Fourth, you can’t see the food from the door, it is too far away. Fifth, the cashier person will tell you to just look at the menu and you can see what they are offering, but of course the menu doesn’t allow you to see the quality of the food. Fifth, if you push the cashier person further, she will admit there are items in the dining hall that are NOT on the menu. For example, the salad bar, which again, of course you can’t see from the door. Sixth, if you ask again if there is anyway you can inspect the food prior to purchase, the cashier will tell you that it is against the written policy to allow anyone to enter and inspect the food prior to purchase.
So not only is this place fundamentally flawed in customer service, especially given the negative reviews on food here, it is not family friendly, not transparent (buyer beware–you can’t inspect the goods until you pay–what kind of business model is that anyways?), but in the scheme of Christian antics, this isn’t even Christ-like. It is like going full speed ahead with nonsense.
In short, don’t waste your time here until this place changes its business model and realizes that parents need better customer service, and even Jesus didn’t require blind faith. Change your hearts, change your minds, change the world. Until then, you will just be mediocre and I wouldn’t send my kids here in a million years.

I have never had a bad meal at Messiah College. I’ve been going there for 15 years for my church denomination’s conference. Never a bad meal. And they keep improving. This year they had a stir fry station. Delicious! The desserts are amazing, the coffee is great and fair trade, and they offer lots of beverages, include calorie free vitamin water. Since they built the new Martin section, there is also plenty more space. If you want salad, they have it. Pizza, check. Deli sandwiches with all the fixings, they have that too. Oh, and they staff and student workers are very friendly. Every year I look forward to conference for many reasons, not least of which is getting to eat at Lottie. Over the last three years, my two oldest sons started attending Messiah as students, and they suspect that there is a higher level of food for conferences. But thankfully move in day and family weekends they pull out the conference food!

While the menu appears decent, all of the food is below average quality even for a cafeteria. Certain foods consistently leave you sick. When the menu says a foreign food, expect Lottie to do a very loose interpretation of that recipe. Meat such as beef is consistently overcooked, and pastas are consistently watery. In addition to the food being poorly prepared, I have experienced many issues with dinner and silverware being dirty, with chunks of food left on them. Even with a large selection of food, there is rarely anything that is decent. Just about the only things that Lottie can do right is the cereal and soft drinks, two items that they do not even make themselves. Overall I would say Messiah is a good college but do not let anyone tell you Lottie is decent. I would be genuinely shocked if there were real trained chefs in the kitchen, or if Lottie has a heath inspection. Definitely would never recommend even to my worst enemies.

We have eaten several times with our family. We love it and reasonable.

Has some decent options for food certain days of the week. Lines can be a bit long, especially on Falcon-Fil-A day, which isn’t even the best meal. Good environment to hang out with friends and family, though.

Cross Contamination is huge in this place and I would never eat the meat or seafood served here as I have tried both multiple times and have found them to be undercooked. Unless you know specific foods to eat that are good that day I would not recommend this place to anyone. If they can’t fully cook meat and seafood then who knows what else is actually “safe” to eat.

Not too bad. Pricy if you’re not a student. Salad bar and deli bar stay consistent. The food is mid. Good sometimes. Depends on when and what they happen to serve. Pretty clean.

I am a current student here at Messiah. Lottie, most days, is disappointing. Some days the food will be good, but most days it is junk. Avoid the meatloaf and fajitas at all costs! They will pound you harder than liquid hole. The food is just not good. Makes you have to sprint back to the bathroom and unload. For where the college cuts costs for Lottie it puts it into the plumbing system. I’d say at least 2 days out of the week the food they are serving is just disgusting. The chefs don’t know what they are doing or something. Eggs are fake. After eating here I feel like my intestines got punched by Mike Tyson-not in a good way. I need to double wipe that’s how bad it is. Thank God for Union- which still isn’t that great. Lottie needs to step its game up for sure. Lottie Nelson will destroy you!

They played Christmas music which was nice…But it’s weird R&B Christmas music that nobody knows. It’s symbolic of the Lottie experience. Decent ideas with mediocre and oftentimes weird execution.

Fresh variety everyday!! Better than most restaurants! If you can’t find anything good to eat here, it isn’t Lottie’s fault!
