The waitstaff was friendly and the chips are great.

Unfortunately, everything else is rather awful. I was excited because it had good reviews, and 4.6 stars. However, if you consider yourself a “foodie” or someone who has a decent palette, I wouldn’t eat here. Nothing about it is authentic.

The salsa is almost sweet and far too saucy, more like a marina. The beans are under seasoned and overcooked.
The guacamole tastes like it came straight out of a grocery store container and came with grey looking pork belly and brown sauce on top.
The chorizo egg rolls taste like a loaded baked potato and dog food. Again, the pork was grey and not properly seasoned. The cheese and potato tasted like any other cheese and potatoes.
The wings were under seasoned and overcooked and the celery was limp. Not crisp or fresh.
The ceviche could have been good, but it was drenched in the sweet salsa, and, for some reason, was served in a boat of it. The shrimp was whole, which was fine but not too traditional.

Oh, and the drinks. If you want a goblet of sugar, congratulations, that’s every drink they have. Forget a classic, well balanced margarita. It’s a minimum of 15oz of mixer for one shot.

If you like authentic Mexican food and a good, balanced cocktail, don’t eat here. If you want a bottled beer and chips, live it up.

Again, the waitstaff is nice and the chips are great.

We came here for the first time. The live mariachi music was great, even playing songs I didn’t expect like radio head and Johnny cash. The food tastes very fresh and delicious. The staff were attentive and prompt. We are definitely coming back. Highly recommend.

We’ve visited Loteria twice now, and they’re definitely one of our favorites for Mexican food in the Southington area. The family that runs this restaurant is so kind, and they go above and beyond to provide attentive service. All of the food is delicious, and we recently enjoyed their new happy hour specials. They even have a brunch menu with quite a variety of options to choose from. We hear there’s a mariachi band on Fridays that we’ll have to come back for!

Honestly, not that great. The ambiance and service were both good, maybe even very good. But the food was not. Everything tasted bland. Not flavorful. And what flavor I did taste wasn’t that appealing. I’ve had so much better Mexican food elsewhere. My order was the Tacos Al Pastor, and the meat was chewy and fatty. Also as I said, flavor not great. Sorry! I wanted to like it. I won’t return.

Delicious authentic Mexican food. Slightly overpriced however what’s a buck or two when you’re out with friends. We ordered the burrito and a quesadia. Both were generously packed with fresh foods. My specialty martini was delicious and the large margarita was large! We did not feel rushed and were welcomed to take our time. We sat at the bar however there were plenty open seats in the dining room. Friendly atmosphere. Great attentive staff. We were offered some Mexican house water ; ) Overall, fun time with good food.

JAY SPOT REVIEW
We decided to visit this restaurant following the recommendations of food CT on their social networks.

We are pleased to say that the place was packed as soon as we arrived, but I always like to make reservations! This time we made a reservation for two and they said yes, but when we arrived they told us that they couldn’t take reservations for two since all the tables were for more than 4. However, the person who served us sat us at the bar anyway, which was an excellent decision.

Food: everything was exquisite and above all fresh, just made all the food has a unique flavor that we really liked.
We ordered a main dish and a starter.:

•El Músico 32.99
Grilled chicken, skirt steak, and sautéed shrimp paired with rice and beans.
(we changing the rice and beans for french fries)

•Guacamole 15.99
Fresh guacamole blended with onions, tomato, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice topped with pork belly

* Fried ice cream

DRINKS:
Exquisitely very good, the bartender named Joaquín served us very well, all the drinks he prepared for us were unique and very good.

Margarita Flight 21.99
Add Flavor +$1.00: Peach, Mango, Raspberry,
Strawberry, Jalapeño, Passion fruit, Coconut, Guava,Hibiscus, BlueCuracao.

House Margarita: 14.99 / 19.99
Add Flavor +$1.00: Peach, Mango, Raspberry,
Strawberry, Jalapeño, Passion fruit, Coconut, Guava,Hibiscus, BlueCuracao.

Almost there:
The atmosphere and the treatment, including the service, were very cordial and, above all, attentive.

Hands down a great overall experience. The staff is amazing. The margaritas let’s just say there is no shortage of tequila. Live music!!! The Guacamole was delicious forgot to take a picture of that. I will definitely be coming back.
