Got my coffee to go and the lady at the front was so nice!! The coffee was also great, I got a latte and it was both beautiful and tasted so gooddd!!!
My mom also got a muffin which I tried and their bakery is great!! The atmosphere is so comfy and nice and if you would prefer your coffee to go and sit outside there is an area right in front of the espresso bar with benches, tables and a child play area! Overall such a nice coffee bar with and amazing atmosphere!

Such a cute spot! Almost hidden and the location is a little awkward but it has such a nice sitting area upstairs and the coffee is great. The staff was a little rude but when there was a mistake in our order the barista remade it right away! I would definitely recommend this place over places like The Compass, coffee is so much better and the place is not nearly as busy.

Natives/Tourists/Passerby- Run, don’t walk to the Lot 38 coffee shop! This must be your first pitstop in Navy Yard.
Do yourself a favor and skip those gross burnt bean chains with sketchy customer service where you feel like you’re interrupting them as they forget your order. IYKYK.
Instead, head over to family-owned Lot 38, opened and operated by the sweetest folks who know the Navy Yard area well. Corner of L and 2nd SE on the same side of the street as the lobby of the Courtyard Marriott and across from the park.
The espresso brews fresh and the coffee drinks are consistently a 10/10. Lot 38 has breakfast and pastry options, both breakfast and lunch sandwiches too if you need a bit more filling bite with your brew to start the day’s adventure. One of the friendliest places, this shop is always hopping and a fun community atmosphere. Even when it’s packed, there’s not a long wait for drinks or food. If you come by long enough they start to know your name and drink order. Good place to pop by, a nice (CLEAN!) place to meet up with your friends, or come by for a tea or coffee pick-me-up at the tables upstairs.
Start your day’s adventure the best way at Lot 38 🙂

The owners of Lot 38 are so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast sandwiches are so good, we keep coming back here whenever we’re in the area now that we don’t live here anymore. SEG is to go to.

Very, very good coffee shop. This place appears be a mom & pop which makes it even better to go to vs the surrounding corporate options. The Bacon Egg Cheese Bagel is delicious and portions are good to. Lattes are delicious, easily my go to in Navy Yard. I just have two minor nit picky complaints, sometimes I feel like the lattes can have too much milk for my liking. Second, the pricing is a bit much but I understand its DC. However, paying $15 for a flavored medium latte and BEC bagel really stops me from coming as often. Final rating is 4.7/5

Great service, delicious coffee cake, and a nice, strong iced latte. The folks behind the counter were so sweet. Also so much more affordable than most coffee shops in DC!
Great spot to grab a coffee in Navy Yard.

Ham & cheese croissant was flavorful and balanced. Chai Latte was a touch too sweet, I would recommend half sweetness for most folks. The coffee was great overall, no complaints other than being a little too sweet for me.
The staff were friendly and very quick to get my order out. Upstairs is a nice seating area with plenty of seating and a relaxing place for working, studying, reading, or a conversation!
Pricing is reasonable for DC.

They still have the best cappucino in DC. It’s absolutely perfect! Not too hot, right espresso-milk-foam balance, flavor profile excellent, and they added almond croissants. It’s also a nice place to get some work done. I always appreciate the environment. The prices and parking are the biggest drawbacks. I mean the coffee here is quite a bit pricey. But it’s DC, they have to survive and thrive in a changing landscape. The value offered for the price makes it worth it. Just make sure you park where you can see your car, meter maids fly around to give tickets, and at $100 a ticket, this could be the most expensive coffee you ever had.

Lot 38 Expresso Bar is a hidden gem in DC and my absolute favorite breakfast spot. I ate here almost daily for 3 years when I lived nearby, and now I make it a point to stop in whenever I’m in town.
Their vanilla latte is perfection – smooth and completely free of bitterness. The sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a soft, perfectly toasted bagel hits the spot every time with its ideal balance of ingredients.
What truly sets Lot 38 apart is the ownership. The proprietor is incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready with a friendly smile and witty conversation that can turn any bad day around.
Whether you need a quick breakfast on your way to work or a cozy spot for a meeting with friends or colleagues, Lot 38 delivers. It’s versatile, delicious, and guaranteed to become your new favorite breakfast spot in DC.
