I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy, let alone a loved one. We visited for Valentine’s Day and it was a complete rip-off from start to finish.
The “Value” for Money:
They charged £60 per person for a set menu, plus an undisclosed 10% service charge that was never mentioned during the booking. For £132 total, you’d expect a feast. Instead, we got a “shared” experience that felt more like rations.

The food was shockingly poor quality. We were served:
A basic salad of just lettuce and tomatoes.
Burned chips.
Dry rice.
The “Shared” Dessert Insult:
For the price, you’d expect individual desserts. Instead, they brought out one plate to share containing:
1 single scoop of ice cream.
1 small piece of cheesecake.
4 chocolate balls.

The seating was incredibly tight—clearly an attempt to cram in as many couples as possible to maximize profit over comfort.
Save your money and go literally anywhere else. This was a greedy, poorly executed excuse for a “romantic” dinner.

The meat was amazing. (Bam! It just kept coming!). The staff were really friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was light and welcoming (we didn’t feel rushed). Excellent, value for money; great happy valentine date!!!!

Absolutely amazing! The best meats I’ve ever had – juicy, full of flavor, and served in true Brazilian style. The atmosphere was fantastic with great music and such a vibrant vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Perfect place for a special night out yet still relaxed and welcoming. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back! ✨

A lovely food experience right by the barbican. Great range of tasty meats and sides provided in the Rodizio experience. Well worth the money (and more!) if you have a large appetite. The garlic beef was a little too chewy for my taste, but besides that everything was cooked to perfection. Our chef/server Antonio was so polite, funny, and prompt with the food. We will definitely be coming back again. I’m surprised that they’re not fully booked every day – definitely worth a try.

A really nice spot to eat! The atmosphere is very lively and upbeat, with super friendly staff and fantastic food. The meats are insanely good, cooked to perfection and regularly served up at the table. The sides are all fantastic, but my favorite has to be the garlic mushrooms. I could eat just that on its own!

Will 100% be going back on the regular.

We recently held our staff Christmas party at Lost in Rio Plymouth, and it was an outstanding choice from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was vibrant, festive, and full of energy — the perfect setting to celebrate the end of another successful year and to thank all of our team .

The rodizio dining experience was a real highlight of the evening. The selection of meats was excellent, all cooked to perfection and served continuously throughout the night, with a great variety to suit everyone. The quality, flavor, and generosity of the servings made it feel like a real treat and something a little different from the usual Christmas party meal. The accompanying sides were equally impressive and complemented the meats perfectly.

The cocktails were another standout — expertly made, well balanced, and thoroughly enjoyed by the whole team. Combined with the Brazilian-themed décor, music, and entertainment, the whole experience felt immersive, fun, and genuinely memorable.

The staff were fantastic throughout the evening: friendly, attentive, and extremely well organised, especially considering we were a larger group. Everything ran smoothly, nothing felt rushed, and any requests were handled promptly and professionally, which really added to the overall enjoyment of the night.

Overall, Lost in Rio Plymouth delivered a brilliant rodizio dining experience and an unforgettable staff Christmas party. It’s an excellent venue for group celebrations and special occasions, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. We’ll certainly be returning in the future.

I have been to this restaurant before and it was an amazing experience. I am Brazilian and I’ve been living in Exeter for the last 6 years, no need to say how much I miss brazilian food!
I’ve been wanting to go back for a while and I finally managed to do it on Saturday night but I ended up really regretting it. The service is great, the staff is really nice and friendly but the food was horrible! I ordered the feijoada and my partner order the vegetarian feijoada. Of course, being Brazilian I know exactly how feijoada tastes like and that was not it. It was tasteless, the beans were hard and there was barely any meat in it. His vegetarian feijoada had no sauce at all, it was just dry black beans with carrots and green beans, which is totally different from what he had last time for some reason. The chips were also really mushy and hard to swallow. He said it was the worst food he’s ever eaten in a restaurant and that upsets me, for it being a Brazilian restaurant, for it being my culture but unfortunately I have to agree with him.
Apart from that, the music was quite loud although it didn’t bother me that much, it was just really hard to talk, mostly because we were there for a meal, not to party.
I feel bad writing this because the first time I’ve been there was great – which was in August 2025 – but I drove 2h to get there and back to be quite disappointed. Not sure if the chef has changed or something happened but I don’t think I will going back there unfortunately.

The venue and service were great, our server was very nice and the atmosphere was lovely. The cocktails were very good, as was the dessert. The only thing that let it down was the food. While the portion sizes were generous, the quality wasn’t anything special. Unfortunately, my steak was very bland and very tough. If I was to go back, I would be keen to try the other meat dishes on the menu.

Always amazing we get the all you can eat and its 10/10 every time. (Usually go around Feb or April. Went here again now (13th feb 2026) for an early valentines date, it’s further onto the barbican now and instead of the salad bar you just order your sides to the table. There are lovely views from the upstairs windows. Staff are lovely and you can tell they love the amazing service they provide! Cinnamon pineapple is the favorite and will always be worth the price, they never complain that i want my meat well done and my partner would like rare so they are definitely happy to accomidate everyone ☺️
