Hungry Daddy
Been trying all the Latino resturants around Athens and this time we ventured up to Sweetwater after visiting the Englewood Farmers Market. The Vegetarian dishes are absolutely delicious and I think even a meat eater would love them. My son got the “Create your Own Combo” and got a chicken chimichanga and a tamal. He said they were really good as well. The rice and beans that accompanied the dishes weren’t just your bland, typical sides. They were well seasoned and delicious. They also have a salsa bar!.
The place is kind of a little dive type of place but don’t let that fool you, it’s better than most places you’ve been to. I guarantee it.

The food was quite bland( I’ve been to Mexico 3 times). The beef was very dry and tasted like chopped leftover hamburgers. The beans had little to no flavor until you found a lone onion. The drinks were good though. My daughter ordered a regular Sangeria ( which according to the menu was made with red wine), was brought the Peach Sangeria, when she questioned it the waiter told her that was the regular Sangeria.

I go here weekly, sometimes twice a week. Their Huevos con Chorizo is delicious. Very flavorful. You get a choice of corn or flour tortillas. I have had other dishes that have been equally delicious. The margaritas are always on point. They also have a small refrigerated salsa bar that has 2 choices of mild, medium and hot. Service has always been great. Best mexican in the area.

I love a good “hole in the wall” restaurant that can throw out some delicious food and drinks whilst keeping true to it’s roots- whether bar food or fried greasy spoon. So, I ventured down the street to the local Mexican fare that seems to be a hole in the wall establishment. Was the red carpet rolled out for us? No, and we weren’t expecting it. Was the place a beacon of cleanliness? No, but that’s part of the hole in wall experience. Was the food piping hot and fresh? Also no. However, the margaritas were good and the food mediocre at best. The salsa for the chips was tasty and my husbands street style tacos looked pretty good. My quesadilla was “ehh” with dried out shredded chicken and a tad of queso to the side when I was under the impression it would be “topped with queso” however that seemed to be a miss. My husband ordered jalapeños to the side and they were not brought out with his meal yet suddenly appeared when he only had one taco left. We were still up charged for them even though our meal was almost over.
The outside patio seemed to be the popular place to sit as there was a separate drink stand with a completely different menu however we sat inside due to a chance of rain.
I’ll come back for a margarita but will most likely take my chances on dinner at another Mexican restaurant.

Service, presentation, (posting a pic) and taste were all top tier – it’s a strong recommendation from me.

This is a hidden gem of a family owned Mexican restaurant off I-75 in Sweetwater, TN…Everyone was extremely friendly and the food was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and give it a try if in the area. The price for what you get is great considering it could be more expensive somewhere else as in Knoxville. I had the shrimp Chimichangas and my coworker had the steak fajita’s.

My friend and I came here and really enjoyed the atmosphere, portions and service. The flavor itself was average. I would definitely come back and try something different. I had the vegetarian Fajitas.

We love this place! Found it one night when our power was out and needed dinner. It is a hole in the wall type, but the chorizo dip, birria tacos (it was just a special that day…I don’t think it’s permanent), and the margarita with the Mexican candy rim are what keep bringing my husband and I back! Nice people too 🙂

They’re easily my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Sweetwater with two of their local competitors who are both good, but not Los Zacatecanos good. Plus they make a nice addition to my TGE Data Correlation, @KittyPlays would enjoy the TGE of their place. ✨ ✨

Food is always good. They make you feel like family. Good sized portions. Alcoholic beverages and bobas are available along with different refreshers. Outdoor dining also available.
