I passed this place several times and just assumed it was another knock-off Mexican joint. To my suprise the food was actually very authentic and very very good. Decent prices, really kind staff. Would highly recommend. By far one of the best spots in the area!

It seems like going out to eat you have to sacrifice either good service or good food, usually you never get both. This is exactly the case and more at this restaurant. To say that it is a Mexican restaurant in name only is not entirely accurate but the food is absolutely underwhelming and bland, seasoning would not hurt it at all. Boring menu and super over priced even for this area especially with the experience or lack there of from the servers. The atmosphere gives early 70’s Tijuanna bar vs food truck of the 2000’s pretty much the same as the food. Service, where do I begin. Chips and salsa need to be brought out the second you sit your guests period. There should be no need to ask multiple times for it. Constantly check the table, leaving us with empty dirty plates while we are trying to eat or not refilling our glasses with water is less than basic. Overall I would avoid this place the ratings it has comes from either drunk people with dead tastebuds or old locals waxing nostalgic about a trip to Cancun in the 80’s this place is not remotely authentic nor worth the headaches. Further, I challenge anyone to show me a top rated Mexican spot that does not serve margaritas for happy hour daily, heads up they don’t here, best you get is 3$ beers at a limited selection so good luck with that. Avoid.

We had dinner here. This ambiance is awesome, but atmosphere is little dull. May be because Wednesday night. Service is good. Food is good, but not like extremely good and hence giving 4 stars. We ordered jalapeño margarita and Bahama Mama. Both drinks are excellent. I wish they put in less ice cubes.

The food here is consistently good and looks the same every time. The chips and Salsa is also good. Generally, the service meets expectations. Patio dining is also a nice touch to this restaurant, when the weather is nice. Overall, I return because the food is good and prices are reasonable. If you’re looking for a Mexican restaurant, I would put this location on your list.

This review reflects a personal experience as a Consumer and Chef.
**Overall Impression:**
It was a very hot day, when I arrived at los Toltecos it was cool, it was pleasant, I noticed they had a terrace, but with the heat it was making there was no one to sit there.
**Highlights:**
* Welcome & Management: 7/10
* Waiter: 10/10 (Excellent guest service)
Food:
* Chips and salsa: 5/10 (it was quite watery, I prefer thicker salsa)
* Cheese with chorizo: 10/10 (quite good)
* Shrimp ceviche: 10/10 (very good, I recommend it, I would return for this dish)
* Combo with 2 options: crispy taco & chimichanga 10/10
* Birria tacos: 10/10, very good, great flavor, I would return for this dish
**Atmosphere & Service:**
The restaurant wasn’t very crowded, which is unfortunate. It’s a good spot with ample space, and I found it to be very clean. I definitely intend to return, and I believe the South Riding, Chantilly, and surrounding communities should frequent this establishment more, as it offers excellent dishes and has a great staff.

This was my 1st visit to The Los Toltecos in South Riding ( Have been to Dulles Mall location a few times and reviwee that)
I loved the place, the Mariachi Band added to the already authetic food offering.
Tried the veg Burrito which was optimally filled with good veggies, not a huge load of Rice ( rice and beans served on the side. It tasted great and very flavourful.
The chips and Salsa tasted fresh
Veg Chimichanga, Chicken Chimichana as others on the table ordered were very good too.
The Fried icecream was filled with coconut and tasted very refreshing.
Our server was very friendly too.

Liked the fajita salad but not the shell it was served in. Didn’t like the cheese dip we ordered for chips and Mexican jambalaya was ok. Quesabiŕrias, chimichanga and the side rice, beans were good. Tried tres leches which was good.

The food was amazing!! If you want real Mexican cooking you will find it here. Customer service was good but could use some improvement. The drinks are ok, I’d stay with tequilas because its their perfection here. If I’m in the area I will come again for great food.
