Social Profile:

Los Tios Mexican Restaurants have been serving Houston authentic Tex-Mex for almost 5 decades. In that time, devoted diners have made Los Tios a family tradition handed down over generations. Favorite tables, favorite waiters and most importantly favorite dishes have become rituals with Houstonians who have named Los Tios “Houston’s Best Tex-Mex” time and again. Los Tios offers Tex-Mex favorites that include fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, nachos, tamales, burritos, quesadillas and our famous puffy shells dripping in creamy chile con queso. Many Houstonians got their first taste of a frozen margarita at Los Tios as we introduced Houston’s first frozen margaritas back in 1975.

Branch of a chain started in 1970 serving Tex-Mex classics & margaritas; with busy happy hours.

Great experience! People and staff are so friendly. The food is great. They serve fresh made tortillas and enchiladas with quality ingredients. 10/10 would visit again.

Los Tios is truly our favorite little neighborhood hangout. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a cozy, homelike atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. It has that perfect balance of comfort and energy that keeps us coming back time and time again.

The food is consistently delicious—fresh, flavorful, and reliably excellent every single visit. You never have to wonder what you’re going to get because the quality never disappoints. And the margaritas? They’re outstanding—perfectly mixed, refreshing, and definitely strong enough to give you a happy little buzz.

Another thing that really stands out is the waitstaff. Many of them have been there for years, which to me says everything. That kind of longevity speaks to stability and strong leadership. It’s clear they take care of their employees, and in turn, the staff takes wonderful care of their customers. The service is friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.

The restaurant is usually bustling, which only adds to its charm. It’s lively without feeling overwhelming, making it a great spot for everything from a casual weeknight dinner to meeting up with friends.

I highly recommend Los Tios to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food, great drinks, exceptional service, and a fun, welcoming neighborhood vibe you’ll want to return to again and again.

Classic Tex-Mex Done Right

Los Tios never disappoints. The chips and green salsa hit the table fast and set the tone—fresh, flavorful, and addicting. Their enchiladas and beef fajitas are always spot-on, packed with bold, comforting flavors. Service is consistently friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is welcoming whether you’re dining with family or grabbing a casual lunch.

It’s that old-school Tex-Mex feel with reliable quality and generous portions. A Houston staple that’s earned its reputation. Highly recommend!

My wife and I were on the SW side of Houston so when we were looking for a place for lunch, I recommend this restaurant. This place is nostalgic to me, I have a lot of great memories here with family members who are no longer here. So given the opportunity to come in i took it. The food was good as I remember but the service was not as I remember. The drink order and drinks came quick but once we ordered it seems like we didn’t see our waiter much after. We had to wait and ask for refills and also had to flag down another waiter to find our wait for the check. This place again is nostalgic to me but may not be back seeing that my wife told me I was no longer allowed to pick lunch ideas .

Always a favorite. Good TexMex food, free parking, excellent service, good margaritas. Full bar. We arrived early with a huge party and no reservations and they immediately set up a big table for us in the back. They happily gave us separate checks and great service.

I went back to the Beechnut location after being a faithful Westheimer customer. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly face. I was super excited to see that Hilda was back at the Beechnut location. Hilda always greets us with warmth and gives us the best customer service experience. Thank you beechnut Los Tios for bringing her back..

Really great place to bring family! We had just moved into the area and was looking for a good tex mex place to try and I came across Los Tios on Google and decided to try it out tonight for date night. We walked in around 6 o’clock and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. We let the hostess know it was our first time and the manager (Mag) nearby heard our conversation and introduced himself. When we sat down for dinner. He brought over a few surprises for us to try And was so courteous there was multiple staff walking around, making sure everything was going well and everyone was very friendly. Brayan our server was great! Our food came out really fast and we love it here chips and salsa is so good. We will definitely be back!

Food was disappointing. Definitely not the Los Tios of old days. There was a birthday party for about 20 women next to us and they were definitely drunk and feeling good. They were loud and I think rude to the staff. I commented to husband of the birthday woman that they were abusing the staff. His response was if the staff didn’t like it they could go back to where they came from because the party was women from America. I guess we should have left because this was insulting to the wonderful servers and support staff. I think their server should have cut them off from drinking, but the way they were acting they probably would have made a huge scene.

I’ve been going to Los Tios since they had their first location. First time I ever wanted to leave without finishing our meal.

We will try the Buffalo Speedway location in the future.

Please do better Los Tios, y’all are a a Houston iconic restaurant.

We came here for lunch, showed up at about 12:15: I expected the place to be slow and really packed. The parking was difficult at this time of day, they did have a lot of people in there, but the food came out really quick. I ordered the Acapulco plate. The tamale and chili was excellent, the cheese enchilada was excellent, the refried beans were a little runny, The crispy taco was actually a puffy taco shell and it didn’t eat well, as soon as you started to eat it, it all broke apart and you had to eat it with a fork. The cheese puff was really tasty. Overall, I enjoyed this meal, however, the use of puffy taco shells on their tacos just doesn’t work. I question one of the staff about this and was asking about a regular taco shell. I was told that all their crispy tacos are of this form. it just doesn’t work. The bowl of chips they bring to the table are very thin and don’t hold up to the salsa. Both saulsas were very tasty, but had no heat. Overall, we had a good experience and I look forward to coming back to try other things. Just know that anything called a crispy taco is a puffy taco and you are going to have to use a spoon or a fork to eat it. This was my main complaint with this menu. Additionally, parking is very difficult, the restaurant is in a strip center, and it can be hard to find a place.
