Los Portales Mexican Restaurant was founded in April of 2006 by Jose and Claudia Ursua. Jose and Claudia met over 24 years ago while working together at a Mexican restaurant, fell in love, and soon married. Both Jose and Claudia shared a dream of owning their own business, and after many years of hard work, dedication, and help from Claudia’s siblings, that dream came true. By combining their love of Mexican food and culture, Los Portales Mexican Restaurant was born.

I can’t believe that after spending so much of my life in Englewood I had never tried this place. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman, got our chips and salsa and drinks. The chips were warm and crisp. The salsa had a slight kick as our host had indicated it should. I got asada tacos and the wife got the shrimp quesadillas. Everything was delicious. Looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. You don’t stay in business for 19 years if you have a bad menu. Definitely give this place a chance!

Been here 3 times in a month, and today was my last time. Food isn’t great, service a bit rude and don’t place an order online because they’ll just start it when you get there. Wanted to have a good spot within walking distance but this place needs to add some spices to their meat.

Got the breakfast burrito and it was so delicious. They don’t skimp on the sides either. Chips were warm and the salsa was spicy and fresh. Totally worth it to come here!

I’ve been this place a lot over the years, and I usually enjoy the casual Mexican food. However this time I ordered a margarita that had a lime with a dirt clod on the peel. When I looked closer, there was an animal hair on one side. Then when I pulled it out of the drink, there was another animal hair on the other side. I was with a friend and didn’t want to gross him out, so I kept it low key, but I won’t be back. It’s obvious that they didn’t wash the limes nor their hands at the very least.
