4.5/5 ### Los Pollos Del Pueblo: Where Spicy Grilled Chicken Reigns Supreme

Nestled in the heart of Covina at 1010 N Citrus Ave, Los Pollos Del Pueblo is a no-frills Mexican gem that’s been firing up grills since 2018, drawing in locals with its unwavering dedication to flame-kissed perfection. The spot exudes that authentic, family-run charm—think colorful piñata decor, a bustling counter for quick orders, and picnic tables out front for al fresco feasting under the SoCal sun. Open daily from 10 AM to 8 PM, it’s a lifesaver for lunch breaks or casual dinners, with affordable pricing that keeps the vibe approachable: whole chickens start at just $12.99, and family meals hover around $25-30. Whether you’re grabbing takeout or settling in, the smoky aroma hits you like a warm embrace, promising the kind of meal that lingers in your memory.

But let’s cut to the chase—the spicy grilled chicken is nothing short of legendary, easily earning its 4.5/5 acclaim from over 100 Yelp devotees who rave about its juicy tenderness and bold, fiery kick. Marinated overnight in a secret blend of chilies, garlic, lime, and smoked paprika, then slow-grilled over mesquite for that irresistible char, each bite delivers a symphony of heat and savoriness without scorching your soul. The skin crisps to golden perfection, locking in moisture so the meat stays succulent, while the spice builds gradually—enough zing to wake your taste buds but balanced by citrusy brightness that keeps you coming back for more. I paired mine with a side of arroz rojo (fluffy rice infused with tomato and saffron) and elote asado (grilled corn slathered in cotija and mayo), but honestly, the chicken shines solo or tucked into a fresh tortilla for impromptu tacos. It’s versatile bliss: shred it for enchiladas or savor it straight off the bone.

What seals the deal? It’s hands-down better than that overhyped chain down the road—the one with the “crazy” gimmick and lackluster seasoning that leaves you wanting. Where others skimp on flavor for speed, Los Pollos Del Pueblo doubles down on authenticity, sourcing whole birds from local farms for superior taste and ethics. Service is lightning-fast yet personal; the staff, often multi-generational, chat about spice levels like old friends. I’ve dragged skeptical companions here after disappointing outings elsewhere, and they’ve all converted—hooked on the half-chicken combo that feeds two with leftovers to boot. In a sea of fast-casual spots, this one’s a standout for its soulful heat and unwavering quality. If you’re craving Mexican grilled chicken that actually delivers the fire, skip the chains and flock to Los Pollos Del Pueblo.

I came in to try the chicken and all was delicious! I got a 12 piece meal, half regular and the other half spicy chicken. It came with 3 sides and tortillas, plus salsas! I will definitely be coming back soon!

Small mom and pop style Mexican food place focusing on chicken. Just amazing and delicious and tender chicken. I got the 2 piece and 2 sides and the chicken has the option to be grilled with their spicy marinade which really adds a depth of flavor. It’s a smokey marinade that isn’t too spicy but sets it apart from other grilled chicken places. The carne asada taco was also delicious. The sides of rice and beans were standard. It’s fairly priced for a quick lunch.

The roasted chicken comes in 2 flavors, regular and spicy. I tried both and loved both. With my order I got a side of rice and beans and tortillas. The person at the front is extremely professional and friendly. I highly recommend not skipping this place.

Okay, I’m impressed. Today was my first time coming into this restaurant. From the moment that I walked in, the man working behind the counter kindly greeted me. I explained that it was my first time in & he was patient enough to explain how their menu is set up. The prices aren’t bad at all.

I ordered 3 chicken pieces with potato salad & beans. It also came with tortillas and slices of lemon for the chicken.

On my first bite, I was instantly transported to a world of flavors. Man, this chicken is tasty. It is perfectly condiment and really, really juicy. Also, it tasted healthy.

I will definitely be back. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. If you are craving good rotisserie chicken, then this is the place for you.

I love the feel of this place. True family run restaurant, run with care and style, and the chicken, tacos and salsas are muy rico. Covina has many great restaurants, but you really should consider visiting this one

One of the best places for grilled chicken I’ve been to. The service is good, and the spicy chicken is outstanding! Oh, and they have fresh fruit/vegetable juices. I highly recommend this spot.

Good service Taste of chicken was OK and dry. Deli type Macaroni salad was runny, coleslaw was ok.

I’m not a Juan pollo fan, but I think the Juan Pollo in Covina is better.

I apologize if any feeling is but I think reviews makes us better!
Keep pushing foward and good luck.
