I absolutely loved eating here. The service is great; the ambient is cozy and tranquil; you can smell the deliciousness from the kitchen, and the food is amazing. By far, the most authentic Mexican food I have ever had. It beats all the “cool” and overly expensive spots in NYC that are mainly for aesthetics and IG pics. Go here if you want to try Mexican food that tastes great and makes you feel like it was cooked at home. I had the enchiladas de pollo and my boyfriend had chilaquiles and menudo, which was a Sunday special.

It’s a little hole-in-the-wall, over the bridge from the “cool” part of newport – but oh-so-worth the 3 minute walk. The food is *stellar* across pretty much everything.
– the tacos (oh, that chorizo taco!) are great, and they even have the good stuff like tripa, lengua, etc.
– the salsas are even better, in particular, a cabbage-salsa (don’t laugh. try it) that is to die for
– the molcajetes (soup in a molcajete) is the star of the show, which is tough given all the other starts
– and yes, everything else is just about as excellent
So yeah, go, check this place out if you’re in the ‘hood. It is so, *so* worth it!

I had high hopes of having good street style tacos.
The tacos looked good and came with a nice amount of onion and cilantro. The carrots weren’t pickled and tasted like they were out of a can.
The tacos themselves were disappointing. The steak was lacking any seasoning.
The tortillas were warned and somewhat fried on the grill, but that only resulted in the outer tortilla to be oily and overpowering any flavor the meat had.
The chips served with salsa were cold and stale.
The restaurant was clean, staff were friendly. I hope they improve the tacos.

This dining experience was the absolute worse , they got the whole order wrong . The food was cold and nasty. The food had no flavor. They gave me 2 small triangle chicken quesadillas when i requested steak. My husbands plate of nachos had nothing on them just meat and tortilla chips even when we asked for them to have everything(onions, cilantro, jalapenos ect you know the works). So dissapointing – i think the 2 bottled sodas were the best part of dining here

This place has great food. However, the service is horrible. I have been here twice because their food is outstanding and their prices even better! They just don’t seem to understand customer service very well and the waitress took care of other tables before us while we were there first. Our drink order was wrong on our first visit and the food took forever to come out. On our second visit, they seemed to have forgotten we were there and took care of other patrons first, even some that arrived AFTER we did! Finally, we asked if a plate was spicy and the waitress said “No” but my wife took a bite and we told the waitress it WAS spicy and the waitress said, “Well yeah, a little bit” Unreal! I probably will go back, hopefully they read this and take action. Afterall, third time’s a charm, right? Let’s hope so! Would be a shame if I had to decide to simply find another Mexican restaurant like this one but with better customer service!

Excellent tacos! Recently ordered take out steak tacos. The tacos were seasoned perfectly. Very lean meat. Everyone working was friendly. Can’t wait to try some other menu items!

Spent almost $50 on take out and then they wanted to charge us for a to-go bag of chips and salsa. The same chips and salsa that they give you free when you dine-in. The manager came over and said if you don’t like it, you can just give us the food back. Shocked that after coming here so many times they would treat a customer this way. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
