The main food was decent, and the chips were stale and cold. First time our family never ate the chips at a restaurant. The food looked great, and actually, we got it very fast even if it was a little cold, but not too bad. A bit concerning for me, it makes me feel the food has been cooked for hours and is now being heated up and served.
Service was okay.
While we are handed our menus, we are asked what we want to drink, and my family asks for 2 cokes and a spite. I had no idea the coke products were glass bottles, hence no refills. The Pepsi products are fountain and refillable. The waitress did not say anything. The menu is as big as the cheesecake factory. OMG… Prices were all wrong as well. I ordered 2 dishes that she said was 12.99=25.98 (6 tacos) and 2 items that were 14.99 =29.98 + 5.99. =61.95 + 4 drinks ?14.
Some how the bill came out to 88.40+tax=95.68. It should have been 75.95 + tax.
That’s a huge price difference on menu vs bill. Then she didn’t give me a receipt and told me to just pay, ummmm…what. can I have my bill. Not sure if the prices are higher also due to paying with a card vs cash, but I wasn’t informed of that either. That’s a big up charge for paying with a debt card. Wish I could find my receipt to upload. I will upload it, if I find it. Never again for us.

I am very upset that this restaurant adds an auto gratuity for a party of 4. This was not communicated as I didn’t expect this nor noticed this on the bill and I added a 20% tip on top of the auto gratuity. Its not the amount of the tip as the server did a good job of taking care of us. But customers should not be forced to tip a server (with maybe the exception of a large party) as the gratuity is a measurement of the service rendered. But at the very least, this must be verbally communicated to each table. Not happy at all about this practice.

We DoorDash from here and when we did the restaurant ended up giving us one burrito with chicken instead of steak that is gray and tasted boiled and expired and when we ordered our desserts we ordered a fried ice cream and chocolate cake instead we got two orders of heart-shaped churros that we did not ask for so if you want food that you didn’t ask for and very low quality for an expensive price this is the place to go!!!

Grey, discolored, or grey-green cooked chicken is a major indicator of spoilage and should generally be thrown out, as it likely indicates bacterial growth

I really love the options here! The menu is pretty extensive if you don’t know what you’re looking for, but it’s good to have choices. I got the Huevos Rancheros from the breakfast offerings. My boyfriend got some stuff from the à la carte menu. Everything was fantastic from service to food quality. We’ll definitely be back!

In Iowa, a 10% fee for using a credit or debit card is generally not allowed and likely violates both card network rules and federal law.
The rules differ significantly between credit cards and debit cards:
1. Debit Cards (Strictly Prohibited)
Under the federal Durbin Amendment, businesses are not allowed to charge a surcharge on debit cards, even if you run it as “credit” (signing for it instead of using a PIN). If a business in Des Moines or anywhere else in Iowa tries to add a percentage fee to a debit card transaction, they are violating federal law.
2. Credit Cards (Capped at 3% or 4%)
While Iowa does allow businesses to add a “surcharge” to credit card transactions, there are very strict limits:
The 4% Cap: Major card networks (Visa, Mastercard) and industry standards generally cap these fees at 3% to 4%.
No Profit Rule: Businesses are only allowed to charge enough to cover their actual processing costs. They cannot use the fee to make extra money. Since almost no business pays 10% in processing fees, a 10% charge would be considered “profiteering” and is a violation of merchant agreements.
Disclosure: The business must post a notice at the entrance and at the register (or on the website) informing you of the fee before you pay.

Average food. Minimal service. Had to up and go to the bar to get our second beer. We were one of three tables in the place at 4ish. Wife liked the hard taco shells. Chips and salsa out of the box, thus cold and bland.
Multi tvs each on a separate station with the volume up which was odd. Will continue the hunt elsewhere.

My favorite Mexican restaurant of all time! I’ve been going here for so many years and I’ve never been disappointed. Great for a lunch with friends, dinner with your family or a great after the bar stop (as they’re open until 3 am.) I honestly can’t complain! The services is always good for us too. Love seeing the familiar faces.

10 steak tacos & 1 steak burrito just about $50, evething was very blind stake was chewy appeared to be old,no seasoning what so ever after. I called to see if they can credit me some type of way. I was told there’s nothing they can do because the manager is not there. Definitely do NOT recommend dining in or takeout! Times are hard as it is and for people to take your money and not give you what you paid for Is unacceptable for me. NEVER will I spend my hand earned coins at Los Laureles again!
