Apparently this place is very popular. I was in a group of 9 and everyone was very happy with their food. I really liked the Queso fundido (with chorizo) but I wasn’t so impressed with the enchiladas montadas (red, weird flavor, not horrible but I’ve definitely had better). I thought it was just OK.

The place had a great feel. The decor is authentic and welcoming. But there are a lot of opportunities here. I was ignored when I walked in. The server was not at all attentative. I kept running out of drinks and had to ask for refills. Salsa with the chips and salsa is the hottest I’ve ever had served at a Mexican restaurant, and I frequent them. Chips were stale. I asked for a refill and was brought a quarter of a basket of the same stake chips. The Coctel de Pulpo didn’t taste right, tasted off, and was not very fresh or appetizing. The shrimp dinner came with a baked potato that was undercooked and had entirely too much margarine on it. The shrimp tasted spoilt. I returned the plate. I would not advise anyone to come to this place.

My husband and I love supporting local businesses especially food related establishments , so we went to have a late breakfast here since we were in the area … If I could’ve given this place no stars I would have !!!
We waited about half hour at the bar before anyone actually acknowledged us . Our waiter was Edgar … He seemed bothered to be servicing us . He has very bad customer service or close to none . He literally served me my coffee under my husband’s arm , no excuse me no nothing . We waited another 20minutes to get our order. We had to ask Edgar for chips and salsa to which he claimed that they don’t serve till after 11 . Yet when 2 of his “friends ” showed up he had no problem giving them chips and salsa . While waiting we noticed a little boy behind the bar “washing” dishes and putting them up to be used again . Minor , behind the bar and handling glass completely unsupervised.
My husband ordered a menudo I ordered a fish Caldo . Which Edgar also served us wrong despite telling him several times the Caldo was for me and the menudo for my husband .
As soon as I received my Caldo I noticed it smelled pretty foul … Upon tasting it I couldn’t tell if it smelled or tasted dirty but I couldn’t bring myself to eat it . My husband couldn’t eat his menudo due to the same . When I tasted his menudo it did not taste like menudo and had the same dirty smell/taste to it . Definitely will not be returning . Do not waste your money here ! I highly recommend la Frontera Mexican restaurant located on Zaragoza… They never disappoint.

The quality of the food today was very disappointing. Many years ago, this place was our family’s go-to when visiting El Paso.
We ordered the Milanesa, and it tasted like fish. I suspect they reuse the oil from the fish food. The french fries were burnt and extremely oily, as if old oil was used to fry them.
I complained about the quality of the food to the server, and I ordered a caldo de res, which had a Band-Aid inside it. I wasn’t going to say anything because I had already complained about my Milanesa order but my uncle mentioned it to the server. The server said it was the wrap of the meat… which is honestly unacceptable.

I leave this review in hopes that management takes serious action to improve this restaurant and bring it back to what it was.

Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. Service was friendly, food was great, and best Cucumber Margarita I’ve had. Not too sweet!

Unfortunately my family from out of town chose this place for our lunch today 2/28/26. We were a party of 15 people, the wait to get seated wasn’t too long, but the wait for our food was over an hour and a half. The last plate was brought out at 320pm, but there was one more person waiting for their food (albóndigas). I got up to complain, and speak to the manager, no manager in house, when I asked for the owner Juan, (which I had seen about ten minutes before) he was nowhere to be “found”. Went back to the table, they brought out “the last plate” twice-lentil soup, which evidently was wrong. I sat down to try to at least eat my meal Shrimp Skewers, and the shrimp were RAW!!! I was very upset because I had already eaten one before I went to complain. I could get food poisoning!!! Never ever returning again to the restaurant side!! They take no responsibility in what they do wrong! Los jarrones has been opened for many years, it may be suitable for a couple of people but not for a large party. I watched how other people had gotten there after us and received their meals in a timely manner.
This restaurant needs change ! Good servers, good cooks, and a manager on standby, but good leadership starts from the top, and when employees see that the owner doesn’t show his face, it shows them that he doesn’t care so why should they. The previous waitresses and cooks that worked at the original place were excellent! They took pride on their work! I hope Juan tries to resolve all his complaints and not be stingy and hire a good leader/manager!

Excelente!!! ❤️ We had huevos con picadillo and huevos divorciados. The tortillas are made on-site, and the coffee is hot. The salsa roja and the salsa verde are delicious. Loved every bite! We also picked up some freshly baked bolillos, and be prepared to be tempted with the yummy looking Mexican sweetbread. Take home some freshly cleaned and chopped nopalitos! Also plenty of milk and OJ to-go in the cooler. I enjoyed watching the tortillas being made.

I thought we were going to have a delicious mexican dinner. They started out with chips and salsa. The salsa was so hot i couldn’t eat it and they did not have a mild sauce. The food came out and it was terrible and they did nothing to exchange our meal with something else. I then asked for a steak street taco, it came on a single un heated tortilla, had shredded meat on it cold, no sauce, spices, cheese, celentro. Nothing i threw it on the plates we didnt eat. We spent 50 dollars and didn’t eat it! The worst mexican restaurant i have ever been to. I ordered Queso dip and it was in a tomato sauce and was semi cold and stringy we didn’t eat it either. The margarita was the only thing i finished. Horrible dinner!

This has to be the worst place I’ve ever been to the waitress was genuinely the most clueless person over ever met. I waited half a hour to sit down and the waiter got my order wrong 3 Times, on top of that she couldn’t add a side to my meal. Food was ok nothing special, when it came out another 20 minutes. Would not recommend if you want to have a good meal

I ordered the enchiladas montados, and the red sauce tasted just like the kind my grandmother used to make—very comforting and flavorful. I also tried the menudo, and it was good as well. Overall, I enjoyed my food and would rate it a 4 out of 5.
My husband ordered an omelet and was disappointed, as it was a bit dry, and the potatoes tasted like old lard, which took away from the dish.
As for service, it wasn’t the best—possibly due to it being the day before Christmas—but it definitely impacted the experience. While the food had some highlights, I still prefer Lucky Cafe overall.
