We had a fantastic Super Bowl lunch at Los Guapos. We had the pleasure of meeting Victor, the owner, and Jordan, who took excellent care of us. My son ordered the burrito and said it was outstanding—tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. My wife had the enchilada and tostada and thought both were amazing. I went with the chicken tostada, pastor street tacos, and pinto beans, all packed with excellent flavor.
Victor treated us to his incredible Mexican soup and even a smooth shot of tequila after lunch. He and his team are well‑traveled, with time spent in both Los Angeles and Chicago, and it shows in the quality and authenticity of the food. They also have a great private room available for KU watch parties.
We’ve sampled a lot of Mexican food over the years, and Lawrence is lucky to have Los Guapos. Keep up the great work, Victor and team—we’ll be back soon!

AMAZING FOOD!! My wife and I have been here 8 times so far, and I have tried something different every visit. We have never once been disappointed. The chips and salsa are delicious. The service is amazing, the staff is top notch, and the food is DELICIOUS!

I was excited to try the bean and cheese pupusas — especially since Lent has started and meat is out of my diet on Fridays. However, I was BEYOND disappointed. To begin, I ordered online and didn’t receive my order until 20 minutes after I ordered it. Secondly, the pupusas were almost nothing but masa and a sprinkle of cheese and hardly any beans at all. If you know anything about a decent pupusa, this is FAR from it. Truly, it tasted like I was eating straight, flavorless corn. I felt like I wasted my money and could not enjoy the meal because of how DRY they were. See photos below. They seemed to not have been filled properly. I would have liked to try another menu item, but this was beyond unacceptable. I’d stick to the basics and stop making pupusas if they are going to be this way

Been here a few times for food but this time came for National Margarita Day & dessert! They really know how to make great ones, and yummy flavors. Their raspberry dessert is so good too! As always service is great only thing I would say is refill the chips faster!

My friend had the enchilada plate and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a burrito filled with Mexican potatoes and steak and topped with shrimp and avocado. The aroma when it arrived was wonderful and the flavor was so very good. I will be back. Also met the owner. He was so personable and attentive. Great place!

Los Guapos was a fantastic surprise. I was visiting Lawrence from out of town and joined family here for a meal, and everything about the experience exceeded expectations. The menu is extensive and impressively broad — more of a Latin cuisine experience than just a traditional Mexican restaurant. It includes everything you’d expect from a Mexican menu, but also offers a wider range of flavors and dishes inspired by other Latin countries as well.
We started with guacamole and chips, white queso, and salsa, all of which were excellent. I ordered a variety of four different tacos so I could sample across the menu, and every single one was outstanding. Others at the table had burritos and several different entrées, and the unanimous reaction was the same: everyone loved their meal.
The service really stood out. Our server was attentive, courteous, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. She made great suggestions and clearly knew the food well, which made the experience even better.
The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, and relaxed — perfect for small groups, larger family gatherings, or events. It was my first visit, but it definitely won’t be my last. When I’m back from New York, I’ll absolutely return. My family in Lawrence will be back often, and those who joined us from Overland Park are already talking about making the trip again.

You know how you feel when you go to a restaurant with high expectations and then get there and ? Ok, let’s chat. Bff and I meet here and the decor is so fun and colorful! I feel like I want to pick up some macarenas and shimmy with fun and sass! We’re shown to a table and it’s apparent right away there’s one server for the entire floor with at least 8 four tops and more people coming in. YAY! food must be delicious! Our salsa and chips arrive speedily. The salsa is divine! If you’re a hotenheimer like me request the fire stuff right away and yes! It’s fuego! Smoky with a significant burn from intake to down the throat. NICE. Not a fan of the chips-on the stale and replicated. We order margaritas (it’s our goal in life to compare) and they’re MEH-watery and not alot of taste. Sort of like my childhood easy bake oven products. After waiting for 10 minutes we flag a young boy (who was on spring break from school) to get someone to take our order. He arrives back with a handheld computer and has no idea what he’s doing nor how to do it. Bff and I feel horrible that he’s struggling! It’s so hard for him! He leaves to get his mom (our server) and we place our order. 2 bean tostadas and a bean burrito. My love for refried beans is legendary. Please do something that excites my taste glands and these dishes do nothing. Its like a can of La Preferida beans. We also have the guacamole which is tangy and loaded with sliced tomatoes. The mexican rice is dry and light which signals its been out too long. The bathroom is clean and a word to the owner: that short of a towel makes everyone pull at least 4 to 5 more which defeats the purpose. Also be aware to check your bill. I was charged 1.00 more for each item.

Finally got a chance to try Los Guapos this week and ordered takeout and couldn’t have been more pleased! Great food, great service, and highly recommended! While waiting for my order I sat at their bar, staff as well as the owner politely checked if I needed anything and were a pleasure to chat with. We had chorizo and carnitas street tacos and nachos with a couple margaritas:) but next time we are ordering the molcajete bowl that looked amazing, Thanks Los Guapos! **** NEW EDIT tried the Molcajete Bowl WOW amazing 🙂 Had to share – such incredible flavor and portions perfect to share!

A small group went to dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We were blown away by the service. Food was great and generous portions. My wife and I shared the Molcajete bowl and still had plenty of leftovers! The chorizo queso dip was an interesting and delightfully unique way to start our meal. Seriously impressed by the flavors in our food and how special they made the evening for the birthday celebration. It was decorated fun for Halloween. We will be back!

Truly one of the BEST restaurants in Lawrence HANDS DOWN!!! They have amazing food! My husband has gotten something different everytime and there isn’t a thing he hasn’t liked, I’ve gotten a lot of birria, one of my favorites being the birria burrito!! WOOO! I wish I had pictures but I always forget and dive right in! The place is so beautiful inside! Occasionally I will say if I sit in the back it gets really warm back there but other than that it’s truly an amazing place from the location, the room, the decorations, the service, to the AMAZING food!! If you haven’t tried it yet, GOOO!
