Born into a family with 15 children, Jose Ramirez was lucky number 7. He started his pursuit of this dream as a 13-year-old bagboy at a grocery store in what is known as The Highlands area of Denver. He later worked as a server at Las Palmas, working 60-70 hours per week, eventually becoming the server manager. He would work so much that he would oftentimes sleep in his car while providing for his wife, Martha, and his two sons, Luis and Daniel.Jose saved up enough money to open up the first Los Dos Potrillos location in Centennial in 2002. Jose opened this first location of Los Dos with just $5.18 left in his bank account.

not sure how this restaurant has this high of ratings. was not pleased with 2/3 of my combination plate. “cheese” enchilada was about 3 inches long in total and contained close to no cheese at all. green chili sauce is very watered down tasting and the ground beef quality was very poor.. I would NOT return to this restaurant at all. The atmosphere is nice, I will give it that.

WOW! I’ve been told to try this place forever and finally ended up close by so here we are! The food is INCREDIBLE! We ordered an appetizer no longer on the menu, but highly recommended by friends….. the green chili cheese dip, we’d come back just for that!! We also ordered the chicken chimichanga and the crispy chili Rellenos! Everything was to die for! This place is now my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

Went here for some lunch a while back and it was amazing! Real authentic Mexican food, and very fast service. They had this “margarita tree” and it was the coolest thing ever. A variety of different flavors and just the right amount of tequila. It was a pretty busy place but the ambiance was great!! Loved everything about it.

We had a very underwhelming experience at this restaurant. The service was extremely bad, with us having asked multiple times for a high chair and finally having to get one ourselves. Our order was mishandled, and we waited near an hour for a molcajete and street tacos order – while watching everyone else around us eat. When we finally asked, they rushed our order and gave us an uncooked meal. Look at the pictures. The staff literally put string cheese on top of a stone bowl and served it to us.

The food portions are not only huge they are delicious. I had the Chile relleno, cheese enchilada and beef and bean burrito. My boyfriend had the Mexican hamburger and both delicious. I also had the flight of margaritas all four flavors were delicious but the cucumber was my favorite. Mexican Lager was also very good. The bonus all the staff were very friendly!! We will be back for sure!!

I highly recommend this restaurant. The menu is large, everyone can find something they like, and it has choices you typically don’t see in other Mexican restaurants. My choice was stuffed sopapilla and it was fantastic and the carne asada fries appetizer was great also. We enjoyed the atmosphere also. Next time I am in Denver and craving Mexican I will return.

Went here with my girlfriend in search of some good Mexican cuisine and we were pleasantly surprised. Our food and drinks (Margaritas) were fantastic with service to match! The ambience is great for a casual date night and the interior design really adds to the total experience. A must try in the area for sure!

Excellent restaurant, food was absolutely amazing. The quality and taste of the food was out of this world. The service was great and we also had a live mariachi band. Flavors were on point, table side guacamole was cool too. Prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be back.
