A new Mexico MUST VISIT location. I have never had anything like thier red chili salsa..kinda sweet but HOT and totally addictive! I love it . The bartenders were beautiful and kind, as was the door check/seating staff. I don’t live in the southwest any more but , if I find myself in new Mexico for business ,I try to always find the time to grab a shredded beef stuffed sopapilla and some chips and salsa. I cant get sopapillas at all where I live. Look at the size of that thing! A meal on its own even a la carte. This establishment has been around for ages, and once you try it , it’s a craving you cant forget. The bar does specials on things during happy hour so keep an eye out for thier special menu when sitting at the bar,the specials will offset whatever you spent on your drink lol.i had a tall glass of champagne. This location is beautiful with old new mexican decor , an amazing view of the mountains and delicious old school recipes that are priceless.I hope this place stays open another 20 years !!
THANKYOU LOS CUATES AND STAFF!

This was the first time I’ve gone to Los Cuates, the server was friendly, personable, and had great suggestions, I really enjoyed the interaction.
Food:
I had the big combo plate, which I like to get from a Mexican/ New Mexican restaurant, it gives me a variety to judge. The combo came with a taco, Chile relleno, cheese enchilada, rice, and beans. Everything on this plate was delicious even the rice and beans, which sometimes feels generic bilut these were delicious. The Chile relleno was excellent, it was crunchy on the outside, the Chile had a little bite to it, which gave it great texture and it was full of cheese, so good. The child on the cheese enchilada was a winner, I had Christmas, if you know you know, and each was tasty but not super hot. The taco, if I had one criticism it is the taco, don’t get me wrong it was delicious, the shredded beef was flavourful and an excellent recommendation by our server, but the taco fell apart as soon as I picked it up. My solution, put the cheese on the bottom before putting the meat in, the cheese protects the shell a bit more, take it or leave it, but that’s how I build my tacos and it keeps the shell together better. Anyway, chips and salsa, their salsa is unique and addictive, it’s a little sweet but spicy and she thick, it’s different but super good.
Atmosphere:
Los Cuates is a really nice, homey, restaurant. It feels comfortable and welcoming and could even be nice for a date night. They have a cocktail bar and looks like some great cocktails. It could feel a little moody for a nighttime spot, but we went for lunch. Btw, lunch was super affordable with reasonable prices.
Overall a great experience and will be returning. Thanks for a great meal.

It’s a nice restaurant. And the food is ok. The salsa isn’t very good. But, with so many good Mexican and new Mexican places in town, it’s not really worth it. The atmosphere is typical pseudo-Mexican fair. And the staff service was really good. They’re very friendly and attentive.

Gone down hill! Their re fried beans used to be made from scratch- and had cheese blended in them as well. Yesterday, my enchiladas came with beans that were the rehydrated kind out of a bag! Tastless and hated the texture of the out of the bag rehydrated beans-. The enchiladas were good, as was the sopa. Chile is ok at best. They need to bring back their from scratch beans. Tacos were good.

Great happy hour Margarita. Dinner salad was a large potion loaded with extras! I ordered the chile relleno witch was grande! They are hand made from scratch everyday. It did not disappoint. The cheerful bar server Becky was on top of the bar and bar section. I had a gr3at experience.

I ordered house margaritas and fajitas and they were both exceptional! Even better, Becky was super friendly and answered all of our questions! I am visiting family in Albuquerque this week and my cousin and I were talking about making a second stop out later in the week because of how great our food, drinks and service was! I will definitely be stopping at Los Cuates at least once every time I’m visiting Albuquerque! Thank you Becky and Los Cuates for a great visit!!!

Got seated in the bar area…table was wobbly. Food is always good here. Waitress seemed more inclined to help the regulars. People seated after us were asked for their order immediately. We ordered a Margarita and she didn’t even bother to ask if we were ready to order and we were ready. Never came to refill my soda had to flag down another employee to help. We also were not served sopapillas until we had to ask twice.

This was our first meal in Albuquerque. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. This is a dirty, chaotic, disorganized restaurant with less than desirable food.
The servers were not getting along, one was sadly just terrible and the place was filthy. Several tables walked out while we were there.
The chicken enchilada tasted like canned tuna fish. The other food was essentially tasteless. The chipotle salsa was spicy and tasty and that is about it. After a chat with the manager, we paid full price. To be fair, I did state I wasn’t looking for a price adjustment. I was mostly concerned about the potential of fish being in the chicken enchilada. The manager denied any tuna was in the dish. My advice? Skip the whole place.

Nice Mexican/New Mexican food. I got a combo plate that had a taco, cheese enchilada and Reno. Food was good. Sopapillas were fresh to. This is a good place for consistent food. Green chili wasn’t hot the night I ate. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was great. I enjoyed the locally painted paintings on the wall.
