Las Animas treated us well today, and Los Conos made sure we didn’t stay hungry.

We got off the boat and headed straight to the beachfront tables. Found the perfect shady spot with the waves as our background music. Easy, relaxed, exactly what you want on a beach day.

We ordered a shrimp cocktail , chicharrón taco , fried calamaries , and three heavenly tacos with cheese . Plus a few drinks, because… beach day. Everything was solid, but the salsas stole the show. I’ve had plenty of salsas in my life, but these were on another level. Michelin-star vibes, no exaggeration.

It’s a bit pricier than town, but totally fair for the remote location and those front row seats to the ocean.

Your water taxi guide will persuade you visit certain places on Las Animas beach. They all have their pros and cons. The pros of Los Conos was the service was great. They pretty much team up and everyone waits on you. The food and drinks were solid. Nothing too memorable about either.

For me, the con is the chairs. We didn’t bring towels thinking some of the beach clubs might provide them. I know, not the smartest move. That left us with dirty chairs with no cushions.

In all, still a solid place to spend your day.

I wish I had seen the mistreated parrots before we patronized this restaurant. In terms of food and drink, it’s what you expect from a large tourist type restaurant… not quality or much attention given to it. I would not recommend the margarita; it’s the only time I can remember not enjoying one. The guacamole was ok. The bathrooms were clean, and the view excellent.
But then we saw the stressed out parrots in a small dirty cage with no sort of enrichment or space. There was no water either. They had pecked on their cage from boredom and its condition reflected that. They were also feather plucking, likely from stress.
If it was not for the animal mistreatment, I may have give a 2 star simply because I feel like a 1 star can be aggressive, but animal mistreatment deserves a negative star if it were possible.

This traditional looking restaurant really has very good food in its class. You get traditional and very well prepared tasty dishes, all with fresh ingredients and a unique flavor profile. Excellent oysters, clams, the traditional plate with lobster, shrimp, fish, mussels were great and the octopus on top on that was pretty much the softest best tasting I had in Mexico. And tried quite few places over the years. Right on the beach, beautiful view, relaxing surroundings, real Mexican feel, it has it all. Not fine dining but dining fine. Spot on.

Took a fishing charter on Valeria I with captain Jorge. After catching a bunch of fish, he brought us to this restaurant that is only accessible by boat. The restaurant cooked up our fish for us, while we enjoyed beer and margaritas. What an amazing experience, and best meal we had while visiting. I’ve added multiple pictures of the Mahi Mahi meals, bonito ceviche, bonito sashimi, drink menu, and the view from our table.

I would highly recommend visiting this location.

I have a mixed feelings about this place.

+ delicious food, best shrimp ceviche I ate in my life
+ very good cocktails

– it was EXPENSIVE. We paid $150 cad for one appetizer, one main, and 4 cocktails. Seems like a lot for a regular beach bar, nothing fancy
– it was upsetting to see parrots locked in small, dirty, cages

Worth it. If you hiked out to this beach, reward yourself by having a meal and refreshments at Los Conos. Balcony is mint. Hailed us a water taxi to get back as well. Huge portions and excellent service.

Brandon and Victor made me feel very safe, they knew I was traveling alone! They took care of my things when I left my table and were always making sure I was okay. The food was amazing and the service was even better!!!!☺️

Be Cautious.
We were told a water taxi to Boca would be provided if we spent a minimum of $100 mxn each.
We spent about $250 mxn each and when I asked for our taxi, we were put in a boat.
When the boat reached Boca the taxi operator demanded $150 mxn from each of us. After a short protest we decided to pay him so we could be on our way.
Very bad experience. I feel like we were scammed by the restaurant, or the boat operator, or both.
The hike from Boca to Las Animas was very enjoyable but this experience left a black mark on the day.

My wife and I hiked from Boca to Las Animas to enjoy some lunch. Miguel greater us, showed us the menu and recommended some of the best items.

We ordered the blackened shrimp, and it was the BEST shrimp we have ever eaten. We even had to come back prior to closing for another order.

The service was incredible attentive, our drinks were always full and the staff including Gabriel were all wonderful.
