However, the service was the main problem. It was extremely slow and our server was almost non-existent throughout the meal. We never received a single refill on our drinks and only saw them again when it was time to pay.
This is where the biggest issue occurred. I have a shellfish allergy and had substituted shrimp for fried cheese. I specifically confirmed with our server that there would be no upcharge, and they assured me there wouldn’t be. Lo and behold, the upcharge was on the final bill. When I brought this to their attention, they proceeded to argue with me and blame others rather than taking responsibility or correcting the mistake.
The atmosphere was also pretty meh. Given the poor service and the frustrating argument over the bill, we will probably not be back.
At least the margarita was still good
The staff was very friendly as well.
**UPDATE: I made a second visit and everything was as good as first time, and in fact the service was even better. I’m glad to see some consistency.
I never expected to write a review like this, but what happened during our recent visit to Los Charros Restaurant left us completely shocked and disappointed. What started as a simple night out which we enjoyed there every Tuesday turned into an appalling experience due to negligence and an utter lack of accountability.
While enjoying our meal, I discovered a string—yes, an actual string—floating in my drink. At first, I thought I was seeing things. But sure enough, it was there, fully visible and clearly not something that belonged anywhere near a beverage. Which I’m starting to feel sick because of. This wasn’t a small oversight; it was a serious hygiene issue. One that could easily make a guest question what else might be happening behind the scenes in the kitchen or bar.
Naturally, we brought it to the attention of the staff, expecting at the very least an apology and a replacement. But instead of taking responsibility, they chose to blame us—implying that we must have somehow caused it ourselves. Not only was this dismissive and unprofessional, it was insulting. We weren’t even offered any money off of our bill and told we wouldn’t receive a refund until they checked the cameras and saw how it got there.
Restaurants should be safe, clean, and hospitable environments. When a customer reports a foreign object in their food or drink, especially something as bizarre as a string, the bare minimum response should be sincere concern—not deflection and accusation.
Sadly, their response told me everything I needed to know about how they handle customer service and quality control: they don’t.
Until Los Charros takes food safety seriously and learns how to address issues with grace and integrity, I won’t be returning—and I’d caution others to think twice before dining here.
