This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants on Oahu. I like the colorful ambiance and welcoming vibes. We were greeted and seated right away. They have booths and tables. This time I wanted to try something different so we went with the table. We ordered ceviche, 1 choice beef burrito with beans and rice, and 1 choice green sauce enchilada with pozole. It was the first time I tried their Ceviche. It was served with what I think was mayo and it was sweet, but I prefer more salty and savory flavor. The entrees were delicious and I was very happy with the pozole! I would recommend the enchiladas, pozole, and tamales.

Picked up lunch here on a Sunday. The small parking lot was full but we found an opening across the street. If I could give six stars for service I would. We were greeted when we entered the restaurant. We were offered a table to sit at and look over the menu. After we ordered our take out we were given chips, salsa and water to enjoy while we waited. They were extremely warm and friendly. When our food was ready, they gave us more chips and salsa to go. The food was good although I would’ve liked the portion sizes to be larger. The chicken burrito was really good and the salsa and chips were excellent. Again, the customer service was so impressive.

This is my go-to for Mexican cravings. The portions are large and always delicious. The service is always warm, attentive and personable. I appreciate feeling like they are happy to see me, it really goes a long way with feeling welcome as a returning customer. I also get takeout sometimes and my order is always on point. I live nearby and this is the type of place I want to give my business to. 🙂

IMHO, simply one of the best Mexican restaurants in Honolulu. Much more than just tacos, tortas (Mexican style sandwich’s,) enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos, salads and a whole lot more to enjoy. The portion sizes are generous. The house made smokey salsa is an excellent addition with more than chips. Friendly and accommodating staff. A very good selection of beer, sprits and soft drinks to accompany your dining selections. If you find room they have several unique dessert options to close out your dining experience. This place gets busy at times and a wait might be expected with seating; dine-in and to-go orders. Parking is limited and at times somewhat hard to find.

You could not ask for a more authentic Mexican place! We were met with the friendliest staff upon opening the doors. We were there on a Friday night and it was busy- but that didn’t stop the servers from going above and beyond making sure we had a fantastic experience despite the wait. They offered us drinks and chips while we waited. The food was incredible! Our entire family of 5 was full and pleased with every meal that was ordered. Despite the packed house, our server was super attentive. We will be back time and time again. So much heart and love in the service and the food. Kudos to the owner for creating an atmosphere full of joy.

Went here for the first time tonight for dinner, and was honestly disappointed considering all the glowing reviews.
First off, the parking is very limited. But we were fortunate enough to get a stall. Otherwise you’ll probably have to find parking on the street and walk.
The service was a real swing and a miss here in my experience. My wife and I walked in, and we were seated at the same time as another couple. We noticed that the other couple was served their appetizers before we even got our water! Our server was friendly, but we felt like an afterthought. He never came to check on us, and our waters were left needing refills for the entirety of our meal.
We ordered the jalapeno, artichoke dip and ceviche for appetizers. The “whole enchilada,” and Chile Relleno with a small side of Menudo for entrees. The food was good, but we’ve had better Mexican elsewhere. Though I must say the Menudo was quite tasty.
Overall, an okay experience. Not sure if we’ll return here.

My go to Mexican restaurant, the food & drinks are always on point! But the service by the waiter was TERRIBLE.
I brought in my 7 year old for lunch who prefers soft tortillas. The keiki menu has crispy soft taco so I asked the waiter if she could have a soft tortilla instead of it crispy. He said NO. I thought he was joking. He said they couldn’t substitute. Even went to the kitchen to ask, or so he said. He came back & said NO again. Said I could order soft tacos off the regular menu (mind you $7 more expensive). So I said fine, I’ll just order one of the regular menu. The tacos came out with soft corn tortillas. Perplexed, I asked if these are the same tortillas used for the keiki crispy taco. Yes. Okay then why wasn’t I able to just order a non crispy corn tortilla in the first place?! He sends the owner over who then says, you can get soft or crispy from the keiki. The waiter needs to get schooled on the menu, he was totally rude & had a different story than the owner. The owner graciously took the tacos off the bill, which I told him he didn’t have to. I was completely caught off guard with the service today, it’s a total turn off for wanting to come back & I’ve been coming here for 20 years!!!

We had a great experience at Los Chaparros. I had the chicken fajitas and my friend had ground beef burritos they were both delicious. I don’t normally take home leftovers, but I took these with me. My friend had the top shelf margarita and she loved it. No fake premade mix. We will be back often.
