We did not stumble across this place by accident. A friend knew we were going up north and asked if it was not too far out of the way if we could pick up some of the mustard sauce this place is locally known for. Since it was about lunch time anyway we decided to eat here.

It hurts me to give 3 stars, because this used to be my go-to for mouth watering local bagels. You could not only buy them at the location, but small shops around the area. The bagels have felt hard/dense and even stale sometimes. Had I written this review several years ago, the rating would be higher. Even still, it is a bagel shop you want to check out, especially since it is the only one in the county …

There’s nothing like this place anywhere in the central valley. I’d make the 6 hr trip just to eat here.

Gem worth checking out if you’re in the area – I got the Cucubin pictured below, the slug (long everything bagel) w cucumber, cream cheese, larrupin (mustard-y sauce) and slug sauce (everything seasoning) It was so good, layered really well so you get all the flavors in each bite.

I hate to say this because everyone in this small town loves this place and maybe they don’t know what good bagels taste like.

Charming spot with a beautiful origin story. This place was on top of my list for my two day visit. Vegan/vegetarian friendly with great coffee, sweets, and canned drinks. Kicking myself for not buying some merch.

This review is long overdue! My bf and I had spent the night in Arcata and decided to grab some breakfast before we left. Wow what a great decision that was. To begin, we walked in and not two mins later there was a line out the door-we missed the crowd. We chatted with the very nice people in line and looked at all the wonderful breads. As we were paying for our bagel sandwiches one of the staff members gives us the loaf of bread we were admiring! Already enjoying the atmosphere that seemed palpably aligned, we ate our food. The bread melted in our mouths, the bagels were delicious and crafted with good ingredients and their chai was the best I’ve ever had. We love this place and think about it often. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks Los Bagels for a wonderful memory.

Yesterday was the Fourth of July Jubilee in the plaza, an event that could have produced immense amounts of waste if beer was served in plastic cups and all the food on disposable plates. Instead, beer was served in reusable restaurant-style cups and some food vendors used reusable restaurant-style plates. This choice allowed for the community to have a great day of music, food and fun without the cost of thousands of disposable cups and plates entering landfills and lining our streets.

If you plan to order this Togo, it’s a bad idea. The food will be handed to you as if it would be eaten at the table. The cashier took the order wrong, didn’t even Apologize when it’s wrong. They didn’t offer even deli paper for customers to wrap when we told them that we needed Togo for the drive. Worst customer service experience. Don’t know why this place could get such a high rating.

I’ve appreciated Los Bagels in the past but overtime there prices have just gotten so high to the point that it’s hard to continue to support them. They have long been in the community and it feels sad to see them become less and less accessible to the wider population of their community. Even as a struggling college student their location on campus is something that js often too expensive for many low income students. For two people, two bagels costs 28 dollars and after tip that’s over 30 dollars for two bagels you could have easily made at home. To add bacon it’s 7 dollars and any other spread besides cream cheese is also 7 dollars or more. Overall, i am sad to have come to the conclusion that though it is a cute community space it is just too overpriced for me to enjoy anymore.
