The Safety Issue: Our server brought out plates so hot she had to wear oven mitts, yet she handed them to us with no warning and placed them directly next to my one-year-old son. If a plate is too hot for a professional to touch, it shouldn’t be anywhere near a toddler.
Regulation Concerns: These plates stayed scalding hot for the entire duration of the meal. There is no way that serving food on plates that retain that level of heat for so long falls within safety regulations. It felt like a massive liability.
The Food: To make matters worse, the food was completely bland and lacked any flavor.
Between the dangerous service and the poor food quality, it was a total waste of time and money. Save yourself the stress and eat elsewhere.
The food here is genuinely terrible. The carnitas were completely unseasoned and borderline inedible – easily the worst Mexican food I’ve had. But the real problem was the dangerous and unprofessional service.
The server placed scalding hot plates on our table without any warning – plates so hot you literally cannot touch them. One was set directly next to my 1-year-old nephew who nearly grabbed it. A simple “careful, plates are extremely hot” would have prevented a potential burn injury, but apparently that was too much to ask.
When I reached for my own plate and pulled back because of the heat, the server actually laughed and mocked me instead of apologizing for the safety hazard they’d just created. Then they snatched my cup out of my hand when I asked for a refill – not took it, snatched it.
The combination of awful food, dangerous serving practices, and openly rude service makes this place a hard pass. There are too many good Mexican restaurants out there to settle for this.
We ordered a chicken burrito rice and beans it came with lettuce ONE HALF of ONE SLICE of tomato and sour cream. I spoke to the waitress prior to ordering and specifically asked how the Chile rellano s were made as we both wanted one, and she told me “it’s a Chile, stuffed with cheese, egg battered and fried with red sauce on top. So we ordered two Ala carte Chile rellanos. The plates came and the Chile rellanos were nothing even remotely close to what the waitress described. It was a plate of unseasoned ground beef with a tiny strip of canned cooked green Chile (like Ortega) about 1-1/2″ wide by possibly 2” long tossed in top of the ground beef then sprinkled with cheddar cheese. Complete laziness. So we inquired as to what those two plates were and I said to her, you told me they’re cheese stuffed, battered and fried, and she said “they are!” I sliced into one and separated it and said where’s the cheese, there isn’t any! She had not much to say other than do you want them? We said we would try them but they weren’t even slightly good. If my son won’t eat it, there’s a problem, he usually likes everything but said he couldn’t eat it and was going to leave it. I never even tasted mine at that point. The waitress came back and I pulled up a picture of a Chile rellano on my phone and showed it to her and she got attitude and said “I don’t know, MA’AM I’ve worked here for years and that’s how they do it here” okay..if “that’s how they do it here” then WHY did you JUST describe a Chile rellano (as the picture I showed you), then bring me a plate of ground beef? It literally looked like someone browned ground beef in a skillet, dumped it on a plate and threw a strip of Ortega green Chile and some cheddar cheese on it and nuked it. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. The burritos were just okay, nothing to write home about the rice and beans on the plate were okay. The chips and salsa were good. Would I return? NO. The food wasn’t anything I’d ever want again and the waitresses attitude was a big zero. And something else we found to be strange, is the combination plates don’t all come with rice and beans like every other Mexican restaurant I’ve been to. Very bizarre. I did leave her a decent tip although her attitude wasn’t swift.

I love their homemade salsa and pico. I recommend the Los Amigos Special.
Also, the server told me other Los Amigos locations are not related to this one.
