The atmosphere is like nothing else, with incredible decor without being tacky and staff going out of their way to interact with guests.
Considering the places main draw is the decor, its a lot better than I expected and would even say its very good food.
My husband and I both found what we were looking for: him – absolutely delicious burgers and myself – a fantastic medieval atmosphere!
As a fan of Middle Ages, I was thrilled: the decor, the dressed up waiters, the waiters staying in character all evening, medieval music, styled menus – everything satisfied my inner medieval noblewoman !
The food was really good and the waiter was extremely helpful (while staying in character) with the translation from German and suggestions!
Would absolutely come again!!!
Gehabet euch Wohl!

The locale is nicely decorated in true medieval fashion-wooden tables, candles, shields and swords hung up as ornaments and when I was there I had the pleasure of being taught some history too about the meaning of “crossing blades”, or in other words, a duel which used to take in taverns like this one, but with no actual bloodshed, just public humiliation. I was tempted to give it a go, but I guess my stage fright took over (perhaps next time). To keep the feeling of being in a medieval tavern, the wenches (waitresses) and inkeeper (I guess?) all spoke in an old accent, which I found a very nice touch, albeit me not being as well versed kinda ruined the atmosphere. The music that plays in the tavern is likewise inspired on folk songs so expect to hear a lot that too. It does blend very well to the locale and just elevates it a bit further.
Apart from the atmosphere there are some specific and old school drinks to be had like Mead, Apple wine and others. That is the only downside I can think of as the drinks were quite expensive, but then again I can understand it. It’s a business after all and they have to earn their bread in some way so I cannot scold them on it. Besides, I don’t think there is another place where one can order Mead, so exclusivity has a price too.
All in all, a lovely experience and a place worth visiting if you are into medieval lore/atmosphere or love high fantasy like I do as well as history. Can’t wait to visit it again.

The food was good though. All in all 3 stars. Will try it again in a couple of months.
The service was great, the location good, the interior design fits to their theme – middle age.
The food was great! I had a 400 steak, perfectly done (medium), well flavoured and the meat itself – wow! The sweet potato fries were delicious as well as the desert -> cheesecake
I wasn’t a big fan of drinking a “Fassbrause” out of a non-Glas cup (I guess it is just weird, like drinking beer out of a paper cup) and the shakes did not meet my taste (too milky, less chocolaty) – but I do not reflect the average.
Full 5 stars, definitely a recommendation!
