We traveled from Oklahoma to Georgia and visited Gibbs Gardens, which was incredible! Afterwards we came across Lora Mae’s in Ball Ground. It was such a clean, peaceful and relaxing place! It was 1:30, so past the lunch crowd. I had the BLT+avocado; my husband had the grilled chicken and pimento sandwich (homemade pimento cheese and pepper jelly) ; and we shared an order of red potato salad. Everything was fresh, homemade and delicious! Prices were very reasonable. If you’re in the area, try it! You won’t be disappointed!

We stopped in for lunch, and we’re glad we did. Lora Mae’s has a new owner, and he is a chef! What an improvement! The food was really good, the presentation was great. No more paper plates and bowls! We split a Honey Buzzed Salmon plate on salad instead of grits. It was very good!
If you haven’t been here in a while, come back and try it again. We definitely will be back more.
They just opened, and their hours are 11 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. It’s a really interesting place, shop and dine the sign says, so we stopped in. Along with food, they have some really nice spices, oils & vinegars, coffees, sauces, and other items. Many of the items are unique.
It is located in a beautiful restored home, just one block off main across from the library.
Make sure to check out the chandelier made with keys!
They also have a room perfect for hosting groups or small events.

Super cute 100+ year old home on the historic registry. Everything is wither original or restored to look that way. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I loved all the antique furniture and the little gifts placed thoughtfully throughout the home for purchase. The chicken Salad croissant and breakfast croissant were really tasty!! Our server was very nice and attentive as well. We’ll definitely be back.

We went with a group of 4. The wait time was very reasonable, and gave us time to look around at the various food and decorative items for sale. We had fresh squeezed lemonade, a meatloaf sandwich, tomato basil soup, pasta salad, and the chicken salad sandwich. Everything was delicious, even the homemade desserts. If you’re looking for a place for lunch that’s delicious and off-the-beaten-path, Lora Mae’s does not disappoint!!

No complaints from me, the atmosphere of Lora Mae’s made me want to stay and have a glass of wine.

It was our first time dining at Lora Mae’s in Ballground. We were impressed that there is plenty of parking at the “old house” Cafe. That’s a plus in Ballground. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Our server went out of her way to get everything just right for us. Everything was very clean and the food was presented in an appealing way. The decor is nice with the original artwork that is for sale. We ordered the half-combo which is a sandwich, salad and cookie or chips. There was more on the menu like soups, specials and other lunch favorites. The selections change often which is my understanding.

This is one of our favorite spots to grab lunch. The sandwiches are always well crafted and delicious. The grilled pimento cheese with green pepper jelly is my fave! It’s a neat setup in a historic home with a friendly and calm vibe – highly recommend!

Worst meal ever! For $11.13 I got a burnt, flat grilled cheese and a cup of “tomato basil” soup. It was actually more like spaghetti sauce! Three others in my party were equally as dissatisfied with their meals. When I questioned the cashier, she said I had the ADULT grilled cheese and it was $3.50 and the soup was $5.00, still doesn’t add up to $11.13. I asked to speak to Nancy the owner and she wasn’t there. To top it off, we waited 37 minutes for this awful meal. Do yourself a favor and pass this place by. The cashier laughed when I told her I was over charged and offered a free cookie for our extended wait time! I didn’t want the free cookie, I wanted lunch! This place could be so nice too. Very sad to be treated so rudely and have such a horrible meal.

Giggled, turned around and walked into the kitchen. You have such a lovely location and such a great idea for the restaurant, it’s a shame you don’t have the staff too follow through.

This place is boring blah. 4 choices for lunch all not very exciting or interesting. I got a pimento cheese with pepper and spicey jelly. It was flavorful but gobs of the cheese without enough peppers. The bread was good but it’s like a half a sandwich very small in size. The lemon orzo soup was barely warm and served in a paper Dixie type bowl a tad tacky. It took a long time for us to receive our food and it was very pricey. My wife got the chicken peach and she said it was okay boring. This place has a lot of potential but the menu and prices and service needs to greatly improve for it to be successful.

I will still give Lora Mae’s 5 stars because I did not personally have any issues while eating here. This place was very different in an odd way than any other place I have been. It was not what I expected when we walked in, but I enjoyed the experience overall.
It is located in downtown Ball Ground in an old house. The tables are all in different rooms. There are decorations on the wall, that are for sale.
We were a party of 4 that visited on Mother’s Day with no reservation. Only one younger girl was working that we saw the entire time. We waited around 5-10 minutes for our table. She gave the ladies roses for Mother’s Day. We sat at a cozy table in a room by ourselves.
The menu was very small and no alcohol. The prices were more than fair, fairly cheap in my opinion. The portions were enough for me, but not as big as other restaurants. We all had brunch and our food tasted delicious. One dish was cold, but everyone else’s was hot.
When we were done, the place was very busy, and a long wait. I would be interested to try this place again and see if it is any different on other days.
