Their lunch schedule is not the best but it is affordable. Their lunch special menu might be smaller than other MPK canto restaurants but they are the cheapest in decent string beans, fried pork chop and cod filet though.
We ordered $12.95 Items that include white rice:
– Deep-fried Pork Chop With Spicy Salt. This dish is a must!!! Huge portions!!! And done decent.
– Sauteed String Beans. This was decent. We’d order this again as our veggie dish due to being more of a string beans dish person vs bok choy.
– House Special Pork With Preserved Vegetable. Eh. Not bad but not something for us.
– Cod Filet With Black Bean. Okay. I can’t complain since I like cod filet.
There are $11.95 Noodle soup dishes but unsure if this place is good for soupy items? Their $12.95 Baked items looked promising though, typical canto cafe dishes. Next time, down to try $11.95 items like
C1. Beef Chow Fun
C8. BBQ Pork Fried Rice
C9. Hainan Chicken Rice
Or
$12.95 items
A6. Grilled Chicken Steak with spaghetti (vs rice). Tbd on what sauce but mushroom or black pepper are common picks vs garlic.
B3. Salted Fish and Diced Chicken in Tofu Clay Pot.
B8. Bok Choy with Garlic (if we aren’t craving string beans).

For lunch specials in MPK area, we’ve rotate between these places. Ultimately we prefer takeout, reason we would consider Longten Cafe and Fuxing Springs —
1. Taste of MP. Priced higher but offer higher quality. Don’t allow call-in lunch special take-out. Their sauteed to certain fried dishes are all better than the other 2 places below. Dishes like $12.99 string beans, walnut shrimp, $14.99 Bitter Melon. $14.99 Seafood Chow mein with gravey, $15.99 Intestine dishes, etc. Their lunch special is full and filled with every typical lunch special dish…clams black bean sauce, beef tomatoes, fish flets ., tofu, etc. They aren’t good with their sweet sour, eggplant sauce dishes though.
2. Longten Cafe. Medium tier priced and quality. Limited menu.
– $12.95 fried pork chop, string beans, cod filet black bean sauce. TBD if any bake dishes with spaghetti or hanian chicken would be worth getting too next time.
3. Fuxing Springs. Cheapest in quality. But I guess we’ll order here if we’re going super cheap, and wanted to load up on more veggie type dishes.
– Good for $9.99 L19. Bitter melon with chicken. Maybe $9.99 L25. Beef with string beans (not sauteed type, steamed).
– I’ve yet to try other items like $11.99 L7. Stir fry Choy Sum with garlic, $13.99 L26. Beef and Broccoli. Or $14.99 pan to steamed fish. Their sweet, sour, or eggplant saucey stuff aren’t good.
4. Last resort fast, affordable takeout (Chinese fast food) from Jiu Hao Can Ting. No lunch special but closes late at 9pm. Real Chinese fast food, not American Chinese fast food. They are probably better for their cold appetizers.
But if you’re picky like most 626 canto eaters, then this place and Fuxing might not be for you. Our senior parents like going to Red 99 or nearby another place for their lunch special instead…which are always packed with a wait. Taste of MP isn’t on their radar too.
The restaurant provides lunch specials ($11.99 or $12.99). For an additional $1.99, one gets to have an iced coffee or lemon tee.
Food tastes good, and the portions are big. Will come back again, if I visit the neighborhood in the future.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE STUPID SECURITY GUARD THAT IS RUDE BEYOND WORDS. He scared away so many customers. He was just rude!! Restaurant is great!!! I was told the landlord is worse!! I don’t want retaliation so I won’t post details. But, the restaurant is great. The security guard hassled us despite not having a Handicap parking or trash can on site. He used scared tactics that he’d arrest us with our elderly handicapped parents in the car. He should not be working there, actually not any where else either for that matter!!!
Beef chow fun had a lot of beansprouts. The beef was very tender. Noodles didn’t have a strong wok flavor but the dish was still good. (12.95)
The Hong Kong style milk tea had a strong tea flavor and is not very strong. They do have condensed milk available though so you can make your drink a little sweeter if needed. 2 refills are included. (Hot- 3.75)
My first impression of this place was that interior is fresh and clean. The staffs were very friendly and efficient in serving us.
The foods are very tasty and reasonably priced. Unlike other Canto cafes in the area. It’s lunch price for each dish is normally under $12.
We got four dishes which included a pea sprout veggie, sweet and sour pork ribs, fried noodle, and a curry beef brisket. All of the dishes were in par with the HK standard. I was satisfied with the taste and authenticity.
The ice lemon tea was very refreshing for a hot day in LA. We got ours with half sugar.
There is an underground parking garage which was perfect for the hot day when we dined at this restaurant.
Huge portions. Great price. Not too bad.
Would come back again.
Takes credit card
Lots of parking downstairs belo
Staff speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin
#157-Beef Chow Fun with Dark Soy Sauce $12.95- this is the best dish here. Lots of Wok Hei, the char and caramelizing is super apparent. This place make the dish SoCal!
#24-Diced Filet Steak French Style ($19.95)- excellent dish, cooked with high quality meat, soft and tasty.
#141- seafood and bean curd in claypot ($15.95)- the flavor of the soup soaked into the tofu and mushroom. The seafood was nice and soft.
Fried tofu with mushroom ($15.95)- fried tofu. Crispy outside and soft inside.
#11-Pineapple bun (Bolo Bao) (3.95)- came out warm, with butter inside and it melted. Standard taste. Nice texture on outside.
