The food is outstanding. The halibut was perfectly cooked with incredible flavor, the polenta cake was rich and comforting (a must try) Even the classic cheeseburger will leave you wanting to come back. They continue to execute dishes that are genuinely delicious with something for everyone on the menu. We loved the gluten free zoodle option!
The bar and private dining area are gorgeous and inviting. Hands down you must try their Longstory signature cocktail.
Highly recommend giving this spot a try. We have a fantastic experience every time! ️✨
The ambiance was off the charts, a good look.
The drinks are also good, I had the signature Longstory cocktail, which was a tasty winter drink.
The wine list is also good, I had a sparking Riesling with dinner.
The food and service did not match, the look. It wasn’t bad. The look is the food / service was 75-80.
Everyone was nice and pleasant, but we had to reorder our wine for dinner from the bar.
The food was good, I had the Jackfruit couscous, but it seemed under seasoned. Same with the soup. The carrots were probably the best dish.
That being said, I like the concept, the small menu and I think this place can succeed.
It puts off GREAT vibes, but it was okay.
I would go again, i think there’s a lot of potential here.
The ambiance is cozy yet upscale, with warm lighting, comfortable seating, and a welcoming, intimate vibe that makes you want to linger.
They have a new creative chef who has taken the menu to a whole new level.
We started with a fabulous tuna tartare which was so fresh and flavorful and the roasted beets had a slight sweet surprise of mission fig, delicious!
Entrees were the Faroe Island salmon with grilled broccolini and fluffy jasmine rice…executed to perfection. And the bone in pork chop was juicy and well seasoned.
Their wine and cocktail selection never disappoints.
Longstory is a must try if you haven’t…
We always enjoy ourselves here and can’t wait to see what this talented chef does next!
Long Story always makes us feel welcome and right at home. They offer a good selection of wines and cocktails. We look forward to coming back!
I grew up in New Buffalo and come back a few times a year to visit family. I’ve been wanting to try Longstory since it opened and decided to finally make it my choice for a belated birthday dinner. The location is great—tucked just off Main Street—and the renovation and design are beautifully done. We were greeted promptly and seated right away, which set a nice tone for the evening.
The food itself was solid—on par with other good restaurants in the area—but I felt the seasoning could use more depth. The dishes were beautifully presented and satisfying, but could benefit from a touch more spice or richness. My mushroom sandwich, for example, relied heavily on the cheese for flavor, which didn’t quite balance out the dish. That said, the rest of my group enjoyed their meals, and the wine selection was excellent.
Where the evening really fell short was service. Our server was polite but seemed focused more on cleaning and closing than on caring for our table. We arrived around 7:30, and throughout the meal, beverage refills and follow-ups were rare. At one point, she even came to the table while eating something herself, which was surprising. An order was also missed, and although she apologized several times, the dish didn’t arrive until everyone else had finished eating—and by then, we were ready to leave. We took it to go, but it felt like the situation should have been handled by a manager.
Overall, the space and menu have great potential, and I’d come back for a glass of wine at the bar. But based on this visit, I’m hesitant to return for a full dinner. Hopefully this was just an off night, because I really want to see this place live up to its promise.
The Salmon and Polenta were simply divine!
Can’t wait to return.
