Prices aren’t too high either.
I ordered appetizers and drinks before our main dishes. Sometimes there’s a bit of a delay with the food, but that’s normal considering how busy the restaurant is every day. Definitely want to come back and try different types of steak!
From the start, Edgar never asked if we wanted bread, and we had to literally ask for water before he brought any. When we were ready to order, we tried twice to get his attention as he walked by, but he didn’t acknowledge us at all. When we finally did flag him down, he acted like taking our order was an issue and had an attitude. When I asked about the bread, he said, “Oh, we don’t just give bread anymore, you have to ask.” Yet I watched other tables get seated with bread and water right away.
When our food finally came out, the order was incorrect. My partner was already so unimpressed with the service that she didn’t even feel like correcting it. I mentioned that I had ordered loaded mashed potatoes instead of regular mashed potatoes. Instead of fixing it properly, Edgar brought everything that goes on top of a loaded mashed potato separate in a to go container — including extra butter that I didn’t even need. So I had to pick around the butter and toppings myself to make it right, instead of just getting the loaded mashed potatoes I ordered.
The drink I ordered actually tasted good, but you could tell it was rushed by the bartender. Half the salt from the rim had dripped down the side of the glass, and Edgar, instead of noticing and wiping it before bringing it out, still placed it on the table with salt and liquid dripping down the cup. I had to flag him down to ask for napkins so I could wipe up the mess myself. The bartender should really take more pride in the presentation of the drinks, especially when they’re being served to dine-in guests.
Anytime he came by to check in, he barely slowed down, just tossed out a quick “You guys good?” while walking past. If we actually needed anything, we had to stop him mid-walk to get his attention. By the end of the meal, his attitude was so off-putting that I didn’t even want to ask for sauce containers when we got our to-go boxes.
The food itself was solid, but the service was seriously disappointing. It’s experiences like this that make it easy to understand why so many people choose curbside pickup here instead of dining in. Like I mentioned, this was only my second time at LongHorn. If this had been my first, I definitely wouldn’t come back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
We were told the wait would be about an hour, which we understood since it was crowded. However, that hour turned into 2 hours and 30 minutes before we were even seated and able to get bread on the table. Waiting that long after being given a much shorter estimate was very frustrating, especially for a birthday celebration.
The only positive part of our experience was our waitress. He was very nice, attentive, and did the best he could despite the situation.
What really made the experience worse was the lack of help from the manager. When we tried to address the situation, the manager came off as rude and uninterested in resolving the issue or even acknowledging the inconvenience. For a restaurant that promotes hospitality, this was very disappointing.
Because of how long everything took, some people in our group ended up canceling their orders and leaving early, which made the whole experience even more frustrating.
Overall, no one in our party enjoyed their night or their food, which is unfortunate since this was supposed to be a special celebration. We left feeling frustrated and let down. I hope management takes customer concerns more seriously in the future.
First, we sat down and waited 10 minutes before our waiter came and took our drink orders. We waited another 15 minutes before we even got them because the kitchen ran out of glasses. A Sunday night and fresh clean glasses aren’t fully stocked? First red flag. Also, the plates served with the bread were soaking wet. Fresh out of the dishwasher but could have at least been dried.
Then 10 or so minutes later we ordered, we both got a steak, potato and a salad. The salads didn’t arrive for over 30 minutes! It was a pretty good salad though.
Finally our food arrive. My girlfriend’s food was cooked great. My sirloin was beyond rare. Unedible. Had to send it back to get it reheated to medium. After what felt like another 10 minutes, got it back. It was actually pretty good, despite the long wait.
Overall, we got seated at 7:00 and didn’t leave until almost 9. Good food, absolutely terrible kitchen management. Don’t go here if you’re in a rush!
