Came in because they were very accommodating of my friend’s gluten allergy. Immediately loved the atmosphere, the waitress Katherine is absolutely wonderful and treated us so well. The sweet tea puts my grandmother’s to shame, the biscuits and gravy were absolutely delicious, and it may have had the best peach cobbler in East Texas. Well worth the stop, best diner I’ve ever been to♥️

The waitress was wonderful, attentive and apologetic for the food taking so long to come out. When it did it was more than ample and filling. Maybe they need three cooks instead of what they do have as the wait was a killer for them to get more than 3 stars. If you are hungry and time is an essence then go somewhere else.

Cozy Texas hometown vibe. Laid-back atmosphere that isn’t the hustle and bustle of chain restaurants. Exactly my kind of atmosphere. I got a Texas chicken fried steak with salad and a baked potato. Nothing to write home about with the baked potato and salad. They weren’t bad just nothing special. The chicken fried steak with the white gravy was very good though. Crunchy breading and flavorful white gravy. I think I should have got the mashed potatoes instead of the baked potato. They probably would have been really good with the white gravy. The only other thing is the size of the dishes are pretty small. The salad was on a small shallow saucer and you have to be very careful while eating it or pieces will fall on the table. The plate was was also shallow and small. The baked potato and steak is all it would hold. The portions for the price seemed a little high but nowadays that’s pretty standard in most places. Service was ok but nothing above and beyond but I was still very generous with around a 40% tip.

Great chicken fried steak. Great catfish. We stopped here after going to the casino on our way back to Houston. We will definitely stop again whenever we go to play. It’s going to be a tradition for us. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon and the place was very quiet. I guess we were too late for lunch and too early for supper. The wait staff was super friendly. Located conveniently on 59, it’s just a good country diner with all the Texan comfort foods you can eat. Very reasonable prices.

They say first impressions last forever. That said, I have to agree. Today was my first time eating at Lone Star Charlie’s and will be my go to place to eat henceforth! From walking in to leaving the staff was absolutely the best, friendliest, and helpful ever. Our server, Angel, was attentive, patient, friendly, and polite! As stated–my first time there. She was awesome ! The reuben sandwich was phenomenal and the onion rings were nothing short of spectacular! Onions rings-perfectly fried, golden brown with superior crunch, to say nothing of the fact they were big enough to hulahoop with! The Reuben–meat to sauerkraut to bread ratio was mathematical perfection! Pancakes– a light, fluffy item of small town USA perfection! The manager (not sure of his name) even came out and checked in on us. Mind you, we had no issues, he was just being a manager. And, they have neat coffee mugs! No, Angel, I did not put the mug in my pocket.

Sat for 20 minutes before getting a menu. Finally received coffee in the smallest cups you have ever seen food was good portions where very large. Instead of butter you get vegetable spread as well as half and half as creamer. presentation and service needs alot of work. Good food though.

Ordered a burger and fries and now I see why there’s not one photo of a burger on their page. Bland and over priced. Tried to get bacon and jalapeno and still didn’t taste good. Fries super bland and soggy, not worth $2.99 EXTRA. Paid $52 for. A breakfast plate, 2 burgers and fries and a waffle.
Service was meh. Just wasn’t a good experience driving thru on our trip out of town.
