Texas-themed steakhouse with BBQ, homestyle fare & a full bar in a casual setting with river views.

Disclaimer: I rate this place as a $$ establishment.
I had a 10 oz house steak served with two sides for $26, which I find reasonable for this venue. The service was very engaging and attentive to customers. The atmosphere in the dining room is acceptable, but the outdoor seating offers a greater experience, especially with views overlooking the Riverwalk. Surprisingly, the place was relatively empty for a 6:30 PM visit compared to other options, which may be due to the lack of direct access to the Riverwalk (tbd) or the preference for higher-end dining for business dinners. I recommend this spot for a casual meal.

Jaime was a great server and the food was fantastic! The brisket sandwich was perfect not too heavy, nice and refreshing onion and pickle on it not too much sauce. Good barbecue sauce on the side amazing potato salad, and good iced tea.

I wasn’t expecting much and this restaurant surprised me in a very nice way. The server was really nice (and extra patient with kids) at all times. I was supposed to have a salad and ended up ordering the baby back ribs and let me tell you, they were excellent! Ordered fries and mashed potatoes on the side and the latter was delicious. It is a little bit overpriced, yes, but worth every penny. Take a balcony facing the river walk and thank me later.

The location is fantastic. We were seated upstairs (in the bar) and had a perfect view of the river walk. We were seated quickly but had a bit of a wait for the server (3:00). It was not yet too busy so it was quiet but got loud within half an hour My ‘saddle’ margarita was decent although the salted rim I asked for came without salt. My server then brought some salt in a glass for me. I had the Alamo strip and hubby had the ranchers ribeye with mashed potatoes and veggies. The mashed and the veggies were good. Hubbies steak was good and most of mine was also. Both were cooked at medium rare but mine had a lot of fat and gristle. We might come back.

I checked in outside. The guy told me to go to the podium upstairs. When the lady finally got to that podium, she seemed confused when I told her I needed a table for one. Another lady come over and seemed annoyed that I needed a table for one.
I waited 10 minutes for someone to take my order when another person came over and said “I guess I’ll be your server today.” I ordered the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and the vegetable of the day, which she had to ask about to figure out what it was. When the food finally arrived at my table, I cut into the chicken fried steak and grease poured out of it. The meat was chewy and so salty, I couldn’t eat half of it. The green beans had the consistency of rubber. The best thing on the plate was the mashed potatoes. They were surprisingly made from real potatoes.
I’m not making the mistake of coming here again. This isn’t worth $25. It isn’t worth $10.

I want to start by saying our waiter was AMAZING. He was on top of everything, he was quick, kind and very knowledgeable. That being said, the food that we received was abysmal. I had the smothered pork chops and they were the smallest, most dry, unmothered pork chops I ever did see. My cousin got the battered shrimp and they tasted and looked like Costco shrimp and were overcooked and dry. My dad had the grilled chicken and it looked like they cut a chicken breast in half and pounded it thin. It was one step away from being jerky. My daughter’s chicken tender meal had more chicken than the adult chicken breast plate. We were SO disappointed, for this price point I at least expect fresh ingredients. I would give it negative stars if I could. Stay far away from this place.

The portions are ridiculously small. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich because how hard is it to mess up a pulled pork sandwich. Pretty basic, right? Except they skimp on the meat so bad that your bread to meat ratio is like 3 to 1. You’re basically eating a bun for a sandwich the meat is so non-existant. My family’s meals all came out similarly and although the service was fine and the river walk’s ambience and view was superb if the food is way below par what does it matter?
We came to the conclusion as a family that this was by far the worst restaurant we patronized on our trip to San Antonio and would not recommend it.

I often stop in for lunch at Lone Star Café in downtown San Antonio, and it never disappoints. The lunch steak cooked medium rare is consistently excellent—perfectly prepared every time and exactly what you hope for when you’re craving a great steak.
Jaime has been our server on several occasions, and he always provides outstanding service. He’s attentive, friendly, and makes the whole experience enjoyable. The rest of the staff is equally welcoming and professional.
If you’re in downtown San Antonio and looking for a reliable spot for a great lunch and excellent service, Lone Star Café is absolutely worth the stop. Five stars all the way.

I docked a star for pricing! 1 person, 1 cocktail, 1 beer, burger, and onion rings added up to about $55 before tip. There is some cool seating outside and its and open place.
The burger was cooked properly! The flavor was good, but the add-on prices add up quickly. I guess you’re paying for the view. The place was close to empty, and I had to step up to the bar for my own beer.
Bonus, they make their own onion rings in house.
