I still remember the first time I dined at Lone Pone Larder — dozens (and dozens, and dozens) of visits later, their chicken congee still brings me the same childlike delight.
Local ingredients with no pretentiousness. Great portion sizes for the price. Perfect salt proportions. Dialed in dishes, and service to boot… Spencer & Sabrina deliver phenomenal food, kindness, and the deli-like style of service makes the process quick — which is great, because once the smell of the roast chicken or herb-infused macaroni and cheese hit you, you’re gonna’ be yearning for a plate yourself.
(Special mention to: the basque cheesecake, sesame chocolate chip cookies, niche market goods, and a damn good wine & beer selection.)

Wow! The roast chicken here blew my mind. By far the best I’ve ever had. The potatoes? Divine. The cheesecake for dessert? Best choice since deciding to walk and not crawl. If I lived on the island I would be poor and never cook for myself again.

Absolutely loved this place! A group of us went for lunch after a hike, it was the first time for us. Everything looked so delicious and beautiful. Loved how many savory choices they had, like Mac n cheese, roast potatoes, chicken, sandwiches, salads, and incredible veggies. I couldn’t decide so I got the side sampler (3 diff items) and a slice of basque cheesecake. Quality was wonderful, prices reasonable, service was fast, there’s plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. The people who work there are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

The folks at the seabird bakery recommended this place and I am so glad they did! This is such a neat find with very unique menus largely inspired by the Basque region of Spain. This is a must stop if you are on Orcas and you like creative food. And they have a great little shop that sells creative, Washington based items. The truffle rice crispy bar with caramel and dark chocolate was absolutely delicious.

What a gem of a find! In the 40+ years I’ve been visiting Orcas this is the best meal I’ve had on in the islands. Thoughtful recipes for veggies and salads, and excellent entrees. Cute indoor and beautiful outdoor patio or lawn seating among the pines. Great coffee too.

i’ve grown up on orcas and been to most of the restaurants, and this is my new favorite by far. went because it was one of the few places that could accommodate to my siblings gluten and dairy intolerance, for which they have plenty of great options. went with my family for the first time and tried a bunch of different dishes and they were all so delicious, fresh, and unique. i was so shocked at the quality of the food, it more than surpassed my expectations. good price, especially for the quality and for orcas prices. the service was friendly and quick. inside has a warm and quiet vibe, and i love the seating outside in the summers. could recommend enough and can’t wait to go back!

Lone Pine has become our go to grab and go for lunches or early picinic dinners. We love everything that they make so far. The best part is every day is something new and different a flavor you haven’t experienced or a twist on a traditional favorite that becomes your new favorite. Refrigerated selections are also full of deliciousness with homemade sauces and soups, and a wonderful selection of beverages and other picnic delicacies. All of their smiling faces and cheerful environment make it welcoming for everyone, including children. We are so grateful to have them in our community.

Incredible dishes with complex flavor. We got the chicken and 2 sides. It left me wanting more, not because I was hungry, but because I wanted more time to savor every flavor. The achiote roasted cauliflower was out of this world and I will be thinking about it every day for the foreseeable future. This is the perfect place to visit if you want a healthy but actually tastes good, filling meal.
Don’t forget to get the basque cheesecake!!
They have outdoor seating in a large patch of grass that makes you instantly feel joy before you even have that first, delicious bite.
In addition to the food and atmosphere, the people were so friendly. They made you feel like a local even though it was our first time in.
This will definitely be the place I come back to next time I visit Orcas. I can’t wait to rave about this when I make recommendations to my friends.
