If food were colors, Lona would be golden!
First, the views from the patio can’t be denied—you’ll watch the sky transform into a caramelized sunset that sets the tone for everything that follows. The decor is “interesting eclectic” with an artistic lean—curated, comfortable, and everything coordinated just right.
My margarita? WOW—titularly strong! If I could accurately describe it, I’d call it lime sweet and savory-spiced perfection. Not too sugary, not too tart—just balanced brilliance in a glass. After one you’ll be saying: “¡y un poco fuerte!”
The food at Lona is modern, fresh, and some of literally the hottest I’ve ever been served—impressive, and they made it look easy … At Lona, the crackling rice and sizzling hot entrée had me at “hello.” The chicken tacos were perfectly seasoned (with the fresh guacamole side ordered—yum) while my extra fiery habanero sauce made the meal a red-hot remembrance in all the right ways.
Service was timely even though the “see and be seen” crowd was in full force—always a testament to a well-run operation when they can handle both the buzz and the quality. (And they didn’t flinch when they were originally going to put me in the dining room but I had to pass because of the sheer playful bastion of small children in action—ok, cool, but, not on my much needed “night out.”)
This is elevated coastal dining done right. The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach delivers here—Lona isn’t just a hotel restaurant, it’s a destination worth the trip on its own merit.
Invite an outgoing friend for an exciting culinary experience (get a babysitter) shake off the winter doldrums and celebrate! Make a reservation and time it for sunset. Fair warning: if fine tequila, habanero hot sauce, and pickled onions aren’t usually on your list of daily “do’s” (they’re not on mine), you may want to consider how to put out that fire in advance. Your taste buds (and your Instagram) will thank you!

Definitely would eat here again.
Came for the endless brunch and cocktail which is a buffet/fixed menu.
The food is awesome. No complaints about the food.
The decor is nicely done and enjoyable.
My main critique is the service: overall the servers (there were 2), were great, friendly and present. My disappointment was when I requested tequila for the Bloody Mary (bloody maria). Without pleasantries and without asking the bartender, the server plainly said NO. And I was surprised because the menu consisted of endless margaritas (tequila!!!) and bloody Mary’s.
Did it really truly matter whether the tequila was used for a margarita or a bloody mary?!?!
Its just odd that I was not allowed to get the drink and equally odd that the server didnt put on a happy face and “ask the bartender”.
Will I go back? Sure.
And yes id recommend Lona to others.
Just hope service picks up because this is truly odd. Ft Lauderdale has plenty of dining options who gladly make bloody Marias for the same/equal value of a bloody mary.
Ysa was one of the ones that was bussing the tables but she instantly as we walked in started taking care of us and brought us chips and salsa as well as fresh ice cold water.
Eventually….. our server showed up then dropped the food but we didn’t see him again, Ysa did walked by and checked on us, i asked her for the bill and then that was the only other time we saw him.
Would probably come back just for Ysa.
