Delicious AND affordable!
Came here for a dinner on a Monday night. It wasn’t busy and we got seated right way. The waitress gave us complimentary chips and salsa and a cup of soup. The soup hit just right on a rainy night.
The waitress gave us 2 alternative less spicy salsas without us even asking! We ordered the lengua (beef tongue) burrito and the lengua gordito dinner.
It was so good. The lengua was so tender and flavorful. It’s so hard to find good lengua like this in the Chicagoland area. Everything cost us less than $25.

I used to walk to Lomeli’s because it’s so close to my home and I became a really big fan of their tacos lenguas. I almost always get that, it’s my favourite. But one time I saw that they had pozole on their menu and the server informed me that they only prepare it for their Sunday menu (it was Tuesday) but I took my tacos and told her I’d definitely be back on a Sunday to order their pozole.
So, I came back that weekend, prepared to order. I think it was the same server taking my order but one of her coworkers (supervisor? manager?) interjected herself into our dialogue, telling me this menu item is expensive (it’s like $22) and telling me how it’s served “family style” telling me how it’s not just a single portion for one guy- she was literally attempting to discourage me from ordering something that I’d been looking forward to. I was ordering something I was familiar with. I was ordering something that they ought to have been proud to serve. Why was she being so rude and unpleasant? I had never engaged with this woman before. Maybe she thought I’d be disappointed with a large amount of delicious soup because…? I can’t imagine why. But this happened months ago. I took home the big batch of pozole and I ate it all by myself over the course of 2.5 days. It tasted decent. I’m writing a review now because of the way that person behaved. It was just so immature and bizarre. It bothered me enough to make me never want to order from this place ever again. In fact, I make pozole at home now and it tastes way better than what they served me (because I’m a nice person and food tastes better when you’re not ignorant and rude.)

Best Mexican food in Lake County!!
As a regular customer for over 10 years, I can say they consistently serve excellent food and have no equal. The restaurant has a bustling busy atmosphere and is very lively. The rotisserie chicken is the best I’ve tasted, the consomme is to die for, and it’s one of the very few places I know of that does a cemitas sandwich.

We’ve always been curious about this restaurant, we see the big red build with the chicken on top and was like it looks different! The size looks big from the outside but it was cozy inside. They were busy with take out but we were seated right away and server was really nice. Food had a lot of flavor. Horchata was a little sweet, ended up getting another drink that was a guava lemonade. The little sopa they give you before your meal, it was like a special treat that I have no idea. We’ll definitely be going back to try more dishes.

Great local place for Mexican food. Hot, fresh chips with spicy salsa were placed on our table. Beers were cold. Food, including a complimentary cup of soup, was ready quickly, and delicious. Server was attentive. Only caveat is they close at 8pm every day.

This place is a staple in Round Lake, everyone knows about it. The food is great not going to lie, it is authentic Mexican food. I’ve been coming here since I can remember but service was always a 50/50. My family and I only order take-out (for the last 5 years) so we don’t mess with service, so I honestly don’t know how they service people there anymore. I give them four stars because we just deal with the food not the people. I recommend chorizo sopes, tacos de Asada (with cheese) and the pollo rostisado.

Awful absolutely awful. From the start of the order to the end, I will never come here ever again. The staff doesn’t give a damn about anything, I called back and had to ask for the manager to place my to go order. She actually took the time to listen how unprofessional her staff was which I did appreciate. Food was ready when they said it would be.
I get home, take one bite of the burrito, said this was the most disgusting pork I’ve ever had in my life, spit the bite I took out in the trash along with the 10.00 burrito.
So sad, I told my girlfriend the place was so amazing and I hadn’t been here in about 5 years, times have changed for sure.
Best of luck. Hopefully they can learn from their mistakes but after reading others reviews, I should’ve done this before ordering. Lesson learned.
