Lombardos is on its way to being a neighborhood institution, the owner is incredibly friendly and is tipping his homage to his New Jersey pizza roots. When I went in they were sold out of everything except their bar pie. A light crispy crust with a zesty sauce and perfectly caramelized cheese. They only prep about 40 or so pies a day but the restaurant clearly has room to expand and for their sake I hope the community floods them with business until they are forced to do so. Truly reaching those east coast roots I highly recommend making the trip into St. John’s for this wonderfully done pie where you will find true beauty in its simplicity.

found ourselves in the st johns area and had this pizzeria on our list to visit for a while! simple pie choices on the menu, but in my humble opinion that is the mark of a good pizza place. the pizza we chose (prosciutto with green olives) had very high quality ingredients and tasted great. the crust was next level crisp and flavorful. lombardo’s has a few picnic tables outside for seating, which was a lovely way to eat a lovely pizza on a lovely autumn day. service was friendly and quick. absolutely would recommend and would return.

This hole in the wall pizza place is definitely worth a visit. The menu is small, serving up a few different new jerseys style pies (think thin and very crispy crust). We got a half cheese and half pepperoni, both sides were excellent. The sauce was light and well seasoned and the whole pie was well salted, making it taste great. The crust was perfectly crisp, allowing it to hold its shape when picked up.

Simply the best pie in Portland. The owner is incredibly nice, and they always produce an immaculate pizza. Couldn’t recommend more.

They keep their pizza and simple and do it very well. Sauce is bright and melts with the cheese nicely. Toppings are generous and highest quality around: the pepperoni and sausages were thick cut. Crust is very thin and crispy; honestly a bit too much for my taste, because it got hard quickly. I think it was in the oven a minute too long.
Glad I finally got to try it. It took me forever to actually get an order in online. I’ve tried to order several times and they were closed or online ordering wasn’t on. There is no number to call.
I’ll return, but won’t get my heart set on their pizza, since it seems to be hard to come by.

-Food-everything is practically homemade and not overly complicated. Allows a person to really taste the flavors. He has a simple menu, but has mastered it.
-location-This place has a simple design and yet elegant approach. It’s not easy establishing a business. The fact he could turn a dry cleaner place to a beautiful pizzeria is amazing.
-service- a very nice impatient person. Also, very good at explaining what you are looking for in a pizza.

The best pizza in Portland!
– Crust: crisp on the outside, chewy and soft on the inside
– Sauce: all about the tomato (as it should be)
– Cheese: just the right amount
As Kevin McCallister would say, ‘A lovely cheese pizza just for me’.

Well-made, tasty pizzas. Very balanced…not too much cheese, for example. You either have to order online, if available, or show up and order/wait. NO PHONE ORDERS as of this writing. I get it saves $ on staffing, but it takes a looong time waiting for takeout pies. Dining in facilities are bare bones. There are a few picnics tables outside that will be good in summer.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean and uncluttered it was. There were only 2 guys working and both were super nice and helpful. I walked in on a Sunday and placed the order; it was ready in about 30 minutes. The pizza itself was delicious! A nice chewy and crisp crust, plentiful fresh toppings and a very flavorful sauce. I got the prosciutto with green olive, and it was incredible! I wish I would’ve snapped a photo but it smelled so good we started eating before even thinking about a photo.
With all the amazing pizza in Portland this place definitely has a spot on my roster from now on.
