This was perfect for a cute quick lunch. The k-bbq banh mi and watermelon smoothies were definitely my favorites. We also had the k-pop fries, Vietnamese iced coffee, and the strawberry banana smoothie and have zero complaints, they were all very good. Aside from the food the staff were friendly and they played good music.

Me and my wife tried the Banh Mi grilled chicken sandwich and the Chipotle chicken sandwich — both tasted really good and were packed with flavor. We sat outside, which made the experience even better, and it felt great enjoying the food in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a spot worth visiting!

a sandwich/banh mi specialist at the heart of Venice. I honestly was surprised that the place looked much cooler than I imagined before. It’s more like a hype cafe with contemporary design, definitely beyond a classic neighborhood sandwich shop. I could surely see myself coming back and hanged here more.

I went for their Grilled Chicken Banh Mi, which seemed to be one of their most popular. It was marked spicy but for my spiciness tolerance it’s actually pretty mild. Nonetheless, it was luscious and absolutely flavorful and I loved that the rich taste came more from the mix of ingredients than the sauce/condiments. The baguette did come in perfectly crispy texture and it’s certainly stuffed abundantly. My Vietnamese Iced Coffee also was refreshing with bold coffee kick. Tad too sweet, but I still like it.

I’m sure I’ve reviewed Lokal before but they deserve another. Not only is the Impossible Burrito the absolute best vegan burrito/breakfast sandwich out there (so juicy and flavorful – available until 4pm) they are always improving their space and offerings.

Outdoor patio in the afternoon sun with unbeatable happy hour prices. A gem of a local spot. Good for getting some work done too (wifi and music.)

First time trying Vietnamese food and I may be hooked. Let’s jump right into this review.

What did I have –
Mexican Coca-Cola – A bottle of deliciousness! I don’t drink soda on a regular, but, I wasn’t passing up this opportunity.

K-BBQ
Korean marinated beef BBQ + kimchi – $14.50 – Amazing flavor and beef was seasoned well. The baguette was soft/fresh.

**Breakfast menu also available**

Pros
1. Wonderful customer service. Greeted and served with a smile. The female employee who assisted me was very helpful in helping me decide what to try.

2. Food was delicious. Light. Refreshing. Filling. Yup, all that.

3. They also have pastries – see photo. Grab food and a treat.

Cons
1. Lot is small, very small and Lokal is next door to Simpang Venice. Busy foot traffic area. Be prepared to face parking challenges.

2. Inside is also small. Cozy but cramp – not enough space for my preference.

I took my Bahi Mi to go and my food was packaged/bagged well. Overall, I would definitely return and try some of the other menu items. I enjoyed my meal and service and warrants the fight to find parking, lol.

Such a chic spot for brunch! Was excited to try their breakfast items. We got a variety to share. My favorites were the K-Pop Fries (well seasoned and the dip goes really well with it) and the Bo Ne Steak & Eggs. The ribeye was tender and delicious with the baguette and creamy pork liver pate. Will definitely need to try their sandwiches and burgers next time. Super friendly service!

Thank you @Lokal.Venice & @YelpLA for introducing me to this neighborhood gem. Sarah, Julia and the Westside Yelp team knocked another one out of the ballpark – the second this week!

Vanessa at the counter was friendly and knowledgeable. She contrasted that this location was full service with drinks and a more extensive menu.

I opted for the vegetarian and she directed me to the tofu lemongrass banh mi. I was already coffee’d out after opening day of dayglow coffee in Venice earlier in the AM, so I opted for Thai iced tea. It comes with 2 non dairy options, almond and oat. Vanessa made the dealers choice of oat milk.

It took less than 10 minutes to get a fresh banh mi, as we sipped the Thai iced tea that was out in a minute.

Thai iced tea was sweet but not too sweet, and oat milk made it less heavy than dairy. It had a refreshing quality to it, and that distinct flavor of tea.

What makes a good banh mi great is the baguette. This one had a nice crunch, had just the right amount of vegan mayo to not make it soggy. You know it’s legit when you get oodles of cilantro, jalapeño and that distinct sweet spicy kick of carrots and other veggies. The tofu was lightly fried and soaked in all the flavor. It wasn’t too lemongrassy but in combination with the bread and pickled veggies, packed a punch. Overall some of the better banh mi I’ve had. It tasted fresh and was satisfying. I really appreciated their choice of hot sauce that did not have additives and other nasty fillers.

Overall a solid experience when craving the Vietnamese French sandwich, which I do often. I will be back to try their burger and some of Vanessa’s favorites on the menu: Cubano, Korean bbq banh mi and the vegan burger.

Tip: The restroom is clean but needs a key.

Tip: Free parking in the strip mall lot
Tip: Check out the lunch special from 8 am to 4 pm. At $15 for OG Burger, fries and a beer it’s the best deal in town.

Wow Bahn-mi! What a lovely treat this was. Friendly staff and delicious k-bbq Banh-mi on a crispy roll. Careful with this Sriracha chili sauce, it’s no joke, extreme fire temps! Use very sparingly.

Not often you find a place with 4.8 stars on Google but this place totally deserves it! I’ve been here twice now, once for breakfast burritos and coffee and once for veggie burgers, fries, and wine. Both meals were truly very good, super solid. The staff is incredibly friendly and the vibe is a very cool-casual neighborhood feel. Playlist has been good as well! Next time gonna come back for lunch to try the vegan bahn mi! Highly recommend this spot ☺️
