We enjoyed having dinner here. The atmosphere and service were great ! We both had the beef stew and our sides were broccoli squash & corn pudding, Both were tasty. The beef stew was just okay for me, I prefer a thicker stock. Had a 36 Oz Yuengling beer to wash it all down . We recommend reservations or you may need to wait 45 minutes. Will stop back in the future, the steaks going past our table looked great. Don’t forget to visit the rabbits out back.

Thought it might be a tourist trap, but I was wrong. This place is the real deal. From the decor to the gigantic gift shop this place has a lot going for it. We sat at the bar abd enjoyed the closeness and wood decor. I hadxa ribeye which was well cooked and delicious. The sides are varied and reflect on the surroundings. I had corn casserole and parsley potatoes. My wife had the stuffed pork and the squash side plus broccoli. All was very good. The bartender took care of us very well and we went home full. Forgot to mention the yeasty bread that was delivered. Very good. Hope to visit again soon. What a nice little town.

This is one of my favorite places I’ve ever happened to randomly come across in my travels as of yet in life. My goodness am I glad I was intrigued when online looking for a place to stop for a bite little did I know this was going to probably my favorite part of this trip. First off the staff and the hospitality is just supreme. They took us in without hesitation, already busy and tired and mind you LATE at night, they took us in graciously, cooked us a lovely meal for three, and provided us a lovely space and time to enjoy family time together. The layout of this place was fascinating, I couldn’t stop looking around, exploring particularly was so fun here. It was all so unique and interesting, I really love West Virginia, every time I’ve ever visited there’s always such a beauty here in the land and people. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. The food was delicious. The place was so intriguing and so full of love and history. The hospitality was warm and inviting, extremely gracious. Thank you, I hope to come back again soon, although from Michigan, I called my husband that night (last night) letting him know we have a trip planned for the future just to come and visit once more, it was that good, that wonderful, and worth the effort and trip again but also an excuse to travel to a beautiful place!!!

First time visitors and we found the food and service to be excellent. The stuffed mushroom appetizer, stuffed chicken and baked potato and broccoli casserole sides were all cooked to perfection and very tasty. The food came out amazingly fast. We rarely venture to this part of VA but would 100% eat here again.

This is another case of a restaurant thinking they’re better than they really are. Service and atmosphere were good (the gift shop is a bit eclectic) but the food didn’t stack up. We started with the stuffed mushrooms. They tasted like they were stuffed with Stovetop Stuffing and then covered with mozzarella. I had the Blue-Ribbon steak. It comes with blue cheese and mushrooms. Steak wasn’t seasoned and was a B cut piece but was cooked fine. The blue cheese was odd, and the sides were just average. The atmosphere is nice, but I recommend going elsewhere for food.

My husband and I had dinner here, while we were in town celebrating our anniversary.
I am glad we had made a reservation because it was a busy place.
I must say I was disappointed that we were seated in somewhat of a walled in corner of the front waiting area. This is such a unique restaurant that we really wanted to be seated somewhere interesting. Guests that were waiting to be sat would at times be standing right beside me. We did each take a turn strolling through the house.
Our server was very nice, she was able to answer all questions we had. I do believe that between the packed restaurant and our table location we did not get the best of service possible.

The meal: Our appetizer was the corn fritters served with local Honey. They had a very good flavor but not much actual corn in the fritters. He had the stuffed Chicken Verde Pecan and I had the Wasabi Salmon. We each had the fried grit cakes with pepper jelly as one of our sides. The chicken had a few spots in it that were a weird texture, almost as if it had been freezer burnt. The pecan sauce that came on top was good though.
My salmon was perfectly cooked and it was no thin little piece, so that was great. To me I would say that it just had a little too much of the wasabi sauce on it.
The fried grit cakes, which we were both excited about were disappointing. We expected them to be crispy, since they were fried. And they really lacked flavor.
All in all not the celebration dinner we had hoped for.
Not to say that I would not be willing to give them another try. Since they are staying so busy somethings are going well for them.
For my visit I would only give 3.5 ⭐️stars

The place is cozy and has lots of charm. When I arrived I was seated promptly. I did arrive late in the evening, so I missed the dinner rush. The table I sat at was in a very dark corner. When the wait staff arrived, they were able to turn on a light above the table. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When my food arrived, my steak was undercooked. I ordered medium and it was served between rare and medium rare. The server took it back and had it put back on the grill. When he brought it back out, it was burnt on the outside and still very red on the inside. I could not eat it. They did remove the steak from my bill. I still paid for the sides and left a tip. After all, the service was good and the server shouldn’t have to pay for poor cooking.
I would like to try it again sometime and give it another chance. I am just not ordering steak next time. I was very disappointed, because I really thought I was going to be able to enjoy a good steak while traveling.

Shouldn’t shock anyone it’s getting 5 stars. I’m glad I stopped in town and got a recco from the Marriott front desk. The 16oz medium rare ribeye was as spot on as I’ve ever had it. Ordered an old fashioned and by chance over heard a patron talk about a Sazerac. Bartender mixed a perfect Sazerac which made the night 10 out of 10 for me. 5 stars. Will recommend and stop in again.

Log cabin style atmosphere, with quirky little rooms and fantastic food. Broad high quality menu, very down home service i.e. friendly and at very attractive prices. Full bar. Very popular, worth making a reservation. You may think you’ve discovered a “hidden gem” but let me assure you anyone who lives around here knows the place.
