My favorite meal is the Chicken Alexandra. The flavors are sensational and I have never experienced a better chicken dish anywhere.
This place is truly a local treasure!
Now for the food. All I can say is everything was perfectly delicious. The calamari was probably the best I have had here in Pittsburgh since moving to the area. The Ribeye was so tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. I have absolutely no complaints about it. The broccoli was cooked to the perfect crunch to softness ratio but was just a tad to salty for me (I do not do salt). I also got an Espresso Martini and it did not disappoint.
Prices are also quite comparable to most places and the meat is butchered locally which I also love. Supporting local small owned businesses and farmers.
The daily specials were a delightful surprise, and the overall experience deserves more than 5 stars.
The only downside was the lack of guest Wi-Fi — and no cell service, which made it hard to stay connected.
But maybe that’s part of the charm — a real retreat from the noise
Atmosphere was good.
I plan on returning to try some other items.
This is an update to the below review and I’maddinga Star. After speaking with someone from their hospitality group, we were able to discuss the below concerns and I believe this was a “one off” experience that occurred due to all the “stars aligning”. I’m hopeful this was just a blip on the radar and will definitely return to give them the opportunity to show that.
Disappointed…
I’m not one to write many reviews unless it’s an exceptional experience or a serious disappointment. This unfortunately falls in the disappointment category. We’ve been to the Log Cabin many times and rarely have any issues, however, on our last visit, we received less than par for one of our favorite local restaurants. I wasn’t starving and there was a petite filet and rock shrimp that sounded really good so I decided to try it. I ordered the steak medium and the first time it came out, is was at best Pittsburgh Rare, so much so the waitress didn’t even get the whole phrase “is everything ok” out of her mouth before she saw the steak. She took it back and a little while later, she returned with it. Unfortunately, the first 2 bites the second time were so charred Ihad to say something, and when she stopped by, she said she was going to speak to the manager. At that point I gave up on the steak and undercooked potatoes and just ate the shrimp and some bread.
First I’ll say the service was not an issue in any way, Jessica did here best to help with the situation. My biggest issue is the management couldn’t seem to be bothered to stop by a table that had not 1 but 2 poorly cooked dishes. Instead, they simply comped a drink and I guess just assumed that was good enough. While it was the dinner rush, it was definitely not too busy to stop by and check on a table that had poorly cooked food. In the past, many times we’ve had someone simply stop by to see how everything was regardless of any concerns. To be honest, a simple acknowledgement of the issue would have meant more and probably would have satisfied the situation. While I won’t threaten like some people never to return, I unfortunately don’t know that I’ll be able to recommend them the way I used to until I see this is a one off and not a new standard.
