We came in as a family of 3 for brunch on a Saturday soon after they opened. The place is quaint and nicely setup/decorated. The brunch menu has a nice assortment of delicious items to choose from. They also have a full brunch cocktail list (Bloody Mary, Mimosa, etc). I was interested in a Bloody Mary, but service seemed to be a little amiss while we were there as the bartender wasn’t there and the server wasn’t able to tell us about the Bloody Mary (do they make their own mix, description, etc), so we just opted for water with brunch.

The brunch items we got were all amazing! Their sausage gravy is made with chorizo, which adds a very nice, smokey touch to the typical biscuits and gravy and it came out with a pair of perfectly poached eggs. Their burger was beautiful and perfectly made and the beef was a very tasty, nice blend. The buns was incredible! Their fried chicken sandwich was excellent as well. Great batter, tender and moist chicken, and the toppings were great too. French fries were piping hot and flavorful too.

So, the food was great, but the service was amiss. Would we return? Most definitely! I just mark up these services issues to having freshly opened for the day and maybe being a little short staffed. Hopefully the next visit would hit on all cylinders.

Great high end addition to downtown. Note: I recommend going Sun-Thu to take advantage of the prix fixe option (otherwise this place can get pricey fast).

Visited with a friend and we both went with the prix fixe option ($48 for any starter, entree, and dessert) which I appreciate being open to the whole menu rather than limited selection. Our waitress was an absolute joy, she made recommendations and was a great chat throughout the visit.

The food came out with reasonable spacing between dishes and was plated beautifully. The beef skewers with phenomenal and my friend loooooved the potato soup. The fish was great (though the skin was maybe a little scorched) and the petite fillets looked impeccable. I admittedly did not like the peppercorn pavlova but my friend liked it so much we swapped – and I really enjoyed the cheesecake (nice and tart).

The interior is very warm and welcoming and despite being a little tight we never felt like we were bumping elbows with our neighboring table.

Very excited to try this place again when the me I rotates and to come back in warmer weather to check out their upstairs bar (which apparently has a separate menu).

Very disappointing dining experience. The staff was not welcoming and the service was incredibly slow. Once I finally received my meal I got barely 1 piece of shriveled up broccolini (zoom in on photo). The waitstaff seemed stressed out. We could not get water or drink refills to save our lives. It is very crammed and my chair was getting bumped into the whole time. Overall the food was just ok. Very expensive for a small portion. My friend got a burger and was not offered ketchup and the waiter never checked on us so she never got an opportunity to ask for it. It’s just a strange place.

We went here for the first time for lunch and were really disappointed. We were the only customers at the time, so we expected better service. The chicken sandwich I ordered was burnt and tasted burnt as well. Unfortunately, the waitress never checked in to ask how our food was.

We also had our toddler with us and asked for a high chair, but it was filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned—there were crumbs all over it. To make matters worse, a delivery person who walked into the kitchen area accidentally bumped into our toddler’s high chair. Thankfully it wasn’t hard enough to knock it over, but it was still very concerning.

My wife & I dined at Locavore, for the first time, this evening. We did make a reservation a couple weeks in advance. It was cold enough that we hesitated leaving home to dine out, but it turned out to be well worth it! We were promptly seated at 6:00 p.m and the dining room was already over half full. We had simple beverages, choosing to focus on our meal. We both began with potato-leek soup, which was savory, creamy, and very comforting. Afterward my wife had roasted butternut squash, with farro, and a romanesca sauce. My wife often prefers vegetables only, and she found it delicious. I had a taste and would gladly order it myself. I ordered Chesapeake Black Sea Bass on Spaghetti Squash w/wilted green in a green curry coconut broth. It was phenomenal! What struck me about both entrées is that the combination of flavors elevated each dish to have a unique character. Our desserts maintained their high standard! My wife had a uniquely textured sweet spiced merengue w/sautéed apple bits. I had a goat cheese cheese cake. They were both “yumtastic!” Throughout our meal our sever was attentive and friendly. Our experience at Locavore was definitely a “win!” I look forward to returning!

What a gem in downtown! This restaurant is exactly what the area needed—fresh, flavorful American food with a creative twist. You can really taste the difference with the locally sourced ingredients; everything was vibrant and delicious. The atmosphere is inviting yet modern, making it perfect for a night out or even a casual dinner. The menu features seasonal ingredients and I believe will change based upon the ingredients seasonal availability, making every dish truly exceptional.

Chef Daniel Perron is truly talented—you can feel his passion for food in every dish. Each plate was beautifully crafted and full of flavor. I can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu. Highly recommend!

The food was absolutely delicious. I had the beef skewers, tuna and the rice with mushrooms. Highly recommend all three. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I love what they have done with the old Vivify. The rooftop bar is a great spot especially with the new mural added. Kristen is an excellent bar tender it was a happy suprise to find her and Malachi working here. Perfect for a date night! Will definitely be back!

We usually head north when we want to dine at nice places, but this time we decided to try Fredericksburg and chose Locavore for dinner. Before we arrived, I noticed they offered happy hour until 6:30 p.m. When we got there, we were seated right beside the bar, and the bartender mentioned that all drinks and food were half off. I ordered wings and a burger, but once the menu came, nothing else appealed to me. My husband ordered the lamb.

Before 6:30, I asked the bartender if I could order another basket of wings. She said she needed to check, which confused me since happy hour was still going on. The manager or owner immediately shook his head no. When I asked why, he said it was because I wasn’t seated at the bar. I told him I could move to the bar, but he still refused and commented that the wings were already cheap at $3.50. I didn’t understand why price was even part of the discussion—I simply wanted another order. Half‑price wings were about $7.50, but that wasn’t the issue. Happy hour was still in effect.

I would never return to this restaurant. The whole setup feels strange, and management and the server constantly pacing around the small space made it even more uncomfortable.

Chef Daniel Perron uses fresh local ingredients to create amazing dishes. The different flavor profiles through all three courses blended flawlessly for the perfect meal. The pork and steak were expertly prepared and flavorful. The portion sizes are perfect if you want to enjoy all three courses. We can’t wait to go back!

Great new spot in downtown Fredericksburg. We will definitely be back. We did not experience the service issues that others did. Food was delicious. Their burger is truly really great. My wife tried their trout dish and enjoyed it.
