Locanda Del Borgo in Denver is a true treasure that brings the rich flavors of Italy to the heart of the city. From the moment I entered this charming eatery, I was transported to the picturesque streets of Italy, where passion for food and warm hospitality reign supreme.

The place is cute. Filled with older locals (60+). The food medicore. Prices are high for what you get. We had the short rib ravioli, the cream sauce was good, the pasta a little under cooked. Also had the fried calamari and shrimp appetizer, the veggies in it had good flavor. The big issue is that the place is not kid friendly. There is no kids menu, we order the $12 side of spaghetti. Again the noodles under cooked. My 6 yr old ate the entire side, which means the side portion is not that big for $12. Probably cost less than $1 to make. So I guess that is why the crowd was 60+. We did not order drinks because the food cost was enough, spent $63 plus tip. That is one app, one main course and $12 spaghetti. They do have a $4 charge for “split plate”, be sure to tell them not to split it. Honestly if it was not for the 60+ crowd I don’t see the business lasting. The service was medicore. Once we didn’t order drinks, the service declined.

Food is difficult to choose what to eat because it all seems pretty great. Good options, but not a expansive list that you need to spend 20 minutes deciding on. Server was attentive and friendly but didn’t hover. Food came out quickly. The burrata was tasty. The other reviews for this place are strange after having actually gone here lol.

Neighborhood Italian restaurant for the Hilltop set with indoor and patio seating, we had a corner table for 7 of us and could amazing hear each other without shouting. Food was classic Italian with good sized portions. Well executed but nothing novel, but also nothing below average.

Our experience started ok….our server, Emily S. is quite inexperienced. I’m retired 45ish years with the food and beverage industry and I watch the floor, the flow, etc.

Full of financially-secure locals because visitors can’t find it. Definitely recommend reservations. Food is quite good, but on the pricier side. Service is always strong, and the ambiance is warm and classy.

Hard to imagine, judging by some of the positive reviews below, that our food was so below average with service that was unpleasant, unfriendly and incredibly rude. And, that when I asked very politely to speak to the manager, I was told that the bartender, who was so impolite and argumentative, WAS the manager. Other people may have experienced good service and good food here. However, in our case, I have rarely, ever, had this type of surly, brazen, argumentative service combined with food that included lukewarm, lackluster soup and bread that never came. A memorably bad night of service and food. This from a guy who normally gives the service industry a lot respect and patience.

Love the relaxed neighborhood spot. Great pizza and salads. Great price point for cocktails and wine.
