Localis is a fine dining restaurant, located in Midtown Sacramento, where you can Trust Us to Feed You Well. Michelin-starred, we offer tasting menus of artfully prepared, beautifully presented food, full of flavor and the freshest ingredients. We also offer wine pairings and beverage pairings as well as bottles from our award-winning wine list, cocktails, spirits, sakes, beers, and delightful, house-made non-alcoholic beverages. We are a small, energetic restaurant that is family-owned and operated by Chef Chris Barnum-Dann and wife and General Manager Jessica Shelton-Dann.

This was an experience as much as it was food. The chef created a clever 10 course menu all based on interesting people. The food was really good and the wait staff did a great job explaining each course. By the time we were done we were very full. I’d recommend for the experiences for sure. The location is quite modest but other than that it’s great! I would go again.

An amazing dining experience. Chef tells stories of his travel adventures that inspire his food, and it shows in the flavors. 10 courses and cocktails pairings make the experience a true taste adventure. All the staff is great, smiling , courteous and you can tell are hand selected for their roles. The kitchen and front staff all seem to have fun and enjoy working there, which i always admire as a sign of a great resteraunt. We enjoyed the Germany experience with my SIL for her birthday, and they made her feel so special with a hand written birthday note at her arrival and a song with a candle at dessert. I cant wait to go again and experience some other countries flavors.

My first time at this local gem. The interior is modest and non-pretentious, very welcoming. A personalized menu marked my seat at the counter; staff were attentive and provided information about every pour. It’s easy to understand why it’s Michelin-renowned for food and wine. Here are photos of my favorites from the Munich to Mosel menu. The only courses that fell short for me were the octopus and schnitzel, both of which were dry – the octopus also very salty. Still it was A LOT of excellent food, more than I could eat, beautifully presented. The pairings were spot on – and again, more that I could drink. Recommend highly.

If you’re in the mood to treat yourself to a gastronomic event, Localis is sure to thrill. The 10 course chef tasting menu with beverage pairing was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. What a thrill to read each small plate before it arrived, then seek to taste each item on my palate. The beverage pairing was almost as good as the food. Can’t recommend this place highly enough for fellow foodies.

Dining at Localis was such an amazing experience. Our waiter, Rick was not only friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks that were paired with our courses, but was also enthusiastic in conveying Chef Chris’s menu. The food and drink pairings painted a picture in your mind as to what it was that Chef Chris experienced while growing up and drew questions between my wife and I about our own culinary journeys.

We tried French Laundry in Yountville/ Napa area before we went to Localis. And to be honest, we enjoyed Localis FAR BETTER! The food, wine and non-alcoholic pairings, even the “intermezzo” to cleanse the palete were perfect! Polo was an amazing host, explaining each course and also sharing his own experience and recommendations on how best to e joy each dish! We loved it so much, we came back the following week! Highly recommend!
