Nestled on Water Street across from East Bay Grill, Local Roots is a cozy café that blends healthy eats with a laid-back coastal vibe—and yes, dogs are welcome on the patio!
Patio Vibes
– Outdoor seating available: The patio is spacious enough for leashed pups to lounge comfortably while their humans enjoy smoothies, acai bowls, or breakfast sandwiches.
– Ocean breeze and bay views: Ideal for dogs who love watching seagulls and sniffing the salty air.
– Friendly staff: Known for warm service and community spirit, they’re happy to greet furry guests with a smile.

Came here when touring the historical sites in Plymouth and enjoyed my visit here. Service was friendly and excellent. I had the Johnny Applebee’s sandwich and the date shake. Both had great flavors and were very enjoyable. Time time I visit MA I’d be happy to come visit again.

While visiting Plymouth, we were looking for a healthier choice for lunch, and chose this location due to reviews. You order at the counter, they give you a rock with a number and bring you your food. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Lavash Wrap (onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, lettuce, humus and garlic Aioli) $17, and my wife ordered the Local Roots Cobb (grilled chicken, egg wedges, sliced avocado and crisp bacon) $18. The food and service was good, my only complaint was that I didn’t see a lot of chicken in my wrap, to the point that I couldn’t tell if it was actually in there. In addition, my wife said that she thought it was odd that they didn’t have vinaigrette dressing option. I would return if in the area again!

We’ve been wanting to try Local Roots and finally got the opportunity last week for lunch!
I got the Housemade Chicken Salad and my daughter got the Local Açaí Bowl. Both were very good!
The staff were very friendly and checked on us a few times during our lunch. Nice sitting outside with a great view. We will definitely be back to try more!

Food was yummy & fast. Little on the expensive side, if your planning on drinking (per usual). For just 3 sandwiches it was $18, the 3 alcoholic drinks totaled $60. I will say the two bloody Mary’s came with shrimp, olives, bacon & celery. Would definitely visit again

This is a great spot for a healthy and delicious lunch. They have a broad menu. The outside seats have a nice view of the water across the street. I’m not a drinker but it seems you can get any sort of cocktail you want here as well!

Local Roots is an absolute gem. The food is fresh, creative, and packed with flavor—everything you’d want from a locally-focused spot. But what really sets it apart is the atmosphere. You can sit outside, enjoy your meal, and take in some of the best people-watching in Plymouth, right by the harbor. Hearing the waves crash on the shoreline while you eat? Unreal.
It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and soak it all in. Great food, amazing staff, and a location that can’t be beat. Don’t miss it

My wife and 4.5 year old daughter moved to Plymouth 3 months ago and we have been checking out the local food spots. Local Roots was our favorite so far. The smoothies were delicious and so were the sandwiches. We got a pastrami sandwich and a veggie/grilled chicken wrap and split it amongst the 3 of us and there was plenty for us.
PS There are some negative reviews on Yelp so we almost did not try it but we are glad we did!
