Used to come to shows here like 10 yrs ago, first time back last night to see Oliver Francis. Great vibes, nice drink selection, and I love that they still do free popcorn and easily accessible water coolers. Sick murals on the wall, good lighting, intimate size venue with a unique layout

Been a couple times to support “The Girls” band from Wilmington NC. Place is quick on the drinks, very friendly staff, treat their bands well. The sound guy there seems to really know his craft well. He helps the bands set up quickly, helps them troubleshoot issues fast. The sound is perfect volume (meaning you hear and feel music, without going deaf) always mixed so you hear every instrument and vocals. A smaller venue but def one of my favorites!

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at The Local 506 at a Dream Ivory concert last night. My boyfriend and I attended a concert there last night, and while we were in the crowd he unexpectedly fainted and hit his head on the floor, which later resulted in a concussion.

What was most upsetting was the complete lack of response from the venue. No staff members came over to check on him or offer assistance, and no one from the venue acknowledged what had happened at all. For such a small venue, it was very surprising and concerning that a medical incident like that went completely unaddressed.

We paid to attend the show and expected at least a basic level of awareness and concern for the safety of the people in the crowd. Thankfully, he was eventually able to stand up and walk out on his own, but if he hadn’t been able to, I honestly don’t know how I would have gotten him out of the venue without any help.

It was a really upsetting experience, and it left us feeling completely disregarded as paying guests. I hope the venue takes situations like this more seriously in the future and makes sure staff are paying attention to the wellbeing of attendees.

Got to see Ouija Macc here. Absolutely love the place. Very juggalo friendly. The bar service was on point as well. I didn’t know they had food, so can’t tell you anything about that. But the venue is a vibe. I definitely recommend checking a show here.

Kind people and kind venue but they sell 1 ticket per square inch and it’s unbearable. Maybe some people are into that but by the time the opener is through there’s a haze from how humid and close together people are. Can’t see the band through the crowd of people, and the glimpse you could maybe get is blocked by people holding their phones up to record. Nice place but I could hardly stand being in there more than 5-10 minutes at a time it was like a sauna fueled by sweat and body heat, with more flesh than air inside.

Pretty disappointing overall. Expect standing room only and few services. Prepaid $45 for two tickets to see a Saturday show, but couldn’t find any space to sit, lean on a wall, or get drinks. No separate line for those with tickets, so we had to wait about 20 minutes outside in a storm. People were literally soaked going in, but still in good humor. ID check was fine, and everyone in attendance was polite. After the entrance line, people formed a separate line for drinks. When we waited our turn and got to the bar to order, the bartender/manager refused service and threatened immediately to kick us out, even though the people in line behind us explained multiple times that we were ahead of them. It’s a surprisingly aggressive tactic and impolite way to treat people who are paying you and fully cooperating with others, but apparently this is a common thread from other reviews. The layout is really constraining and felt pretty unsafe in case of fire or some other issue… It would be less scary if they sold a number of tickets more appropriate to the capacity of the space. You can’t really see or hear the show from the front room and have to pass a narrow hall space squeezed between the bar and bathrooms to move between rooms (common in the older buildings on Franklin St) where people are packed in like sardines. Unless it’s a minimally attended night, I would have to say that other local music venues and bars offer a much better experience.
