I treated myself to something cold and delicious. I hadn’t been to Loard’s Orinda and I was definitely pleasantly surprised. There were so many combinations, varieties and specialty treats there. I was ALMOST overwhelmed. I got some tropical flavors. Banana and Mango and I believe a gallon of Pink Champagne. I can’t wait to come back with my GK’s to try some more flavors and get some chocolates.

Had a great time visiting with a super helpful employee. He gave us tips and opinions and helped us narrow down the impossible choices-I ended up with “halfscoops” to balance what I wanted. The ice cream was nommy.

We live close by, and this is our go-to spot whenever we don’t feel like traveling far. I do wish they stayed open a little later, but it makes sense since most places around here close early too, so whatever .

Flavors are pretty standard. I just wish there were more milk-sub options besides Mr. Dewie’s — they’re aight… but like… where are the rest of the milk-sub options?! FYI- this place gets packed around 2–3 PM when all the kids flood in after school.

One thing I genuinely love is that they still sell Razzles — barely any places carry those anymore. Instant nostalgia. And it would be amazing if they added Mitchell’s Ice Cream someday for more cultural flavor options.

Overall, solid spot. Thanks!

Our favorite ice cream shop! Loard’s is a Bay Area treasure with very high quality products – we especially like Chocolate Showers and Peppermint. Have purchased several ice cream cakes for all kinds of occasions and they were so nicely crafted and decorated (thank you, Tyler!). Store gets very busy early afternoon weekdays when school lets out. Greatest place to get awesome ice cream, locally made in East Bay.

Really great ice cream, some of the best you’ll have. I wish they still served sundaes and milkshakes in the glass dishes and cups if you are eating in the restaurant, instead of paper to-go cups. We can see you still have them right there behind the counter!

Tyler hooked me up with a delicious cone of chocolate mint. Perfect refreshment before my BART ride into SF.

This place made me feel good, but I feel bad for the way they made me feel good. They misspelled “cookie”, they spelled it as “kookie”. Their misspelling of “cookie” made me feel better about my constant misspelling of words. As I was feeling better, I started to feel bad because I realized I was feeling good from someone’s mistake. I shouldn’t derive good feelings from someone’s misfortune, but sometimes I can’t help it. Like if I went bowling and got a gutter ball, I’d feel bad. Then if I saw 50 other people bowl right after me and they all got gutter balls too, I’d feel better. I know I shouldn’t be comparing my gutter balls to other gutter balls. Anyways, I later found out that they intentionally misspelled “cookie”, when I asked the employee if there was a difference between cookie dough and kookie dough ice cream. Apparently, the only difference between them is their spelling. That’s when you know you’ve mastered the art of spelling…when you can intentionally misspell. It ended up being a great marketing tactic on their end because I ordered the kookie dough and it was delicious.

This is by far the best Loard’s ice cream shop I’ve been to in many years. I’ve driven by many times but never stopped in until today. Lively and busy 50’s style ambiance full of younger generation, and older enjoying the evening. The service was friendly and personable, and ice cream was delicious. Will visit again when my diet allows!

This place has the nicest and most considerate owners and employees. We went here after my girlfriend’s graduation and the owner went up to us to congratulate her, they even took her purchase off the final bill total! The employees were equally as nice and incredible. The place is very clean and well kept, they decorated it to really fulfill the ice cream shop asthetic too. Needless to say, the ice cream was really delicious as well! I wish I lived closer to this place because I would love to go here more often, i really recommend this place 🙂
