I’m just going to say it…this L&L location is better than a lot of the locations I’ve tried back home (in Hawai’i).

If it wasn’t a 30-minute drive, I would probably come all the time. I even live too far for DoorDash 🙁

It’s nice to have a spot in the Treasure Valley that serves local Hawaiian drive-in style food. If you think anywhere else in town serves up anything close to it…respectfully, you’re wrong. I’ve tried every other restaurant, food truck, and random person selling food out of their home. This is hands down the best option for your taste of Hawai’i.

My go to at any local place is always a Loco Moco. It’s the dish that sets a standard for me — if you can’t get it right, it’s not even worth trying anything else. Is the burger patty a little thin? Sure. But that’s what you can expect at places like L&L. Regardless, it’s the dish that makes me feel like home and I will order it almost every time.

My husband loves the garlic chicken. He’s also had the BBQ mix plate and teri sandwich, he says he enjoyed both. His favorite thing to order is a side of mac salad.

I ordered a spam saimin at some point and didn’t care all that much for it. My spam was burnt so it pretty much ruined the taste of the broth for me. But that’s okay…everything else has been good so far!

If you’re stopping in on a weekend, be prepared. It can get pretty busy; but it’s worth the wait.

First time trying this location I ended up ordering the barbecue plate, which I got the beef barbecue and the chicken Katsu I really like how crispy the chicken katsu too was. I also ended up ordering the shrimp which tasted decent. It was OK. It’s definitely a place that one will go every blue moon. My recommendation is ask for the sauces you need. Do not assume that they’re in the bag. For everything I ended up paying around $35 which I feel like it’s worth it.

I visited on 3/5/26 with my husband and our 2 toddlers. My husband got the soup, my childrens shared the bbq chicken bowl, I got the lighter bbq chicken plate. We also shared fhe spam musubi and a side of mac salad. Everything was delicious 10/10

The food at L & L is always delicious!!! I love Hawaiian food and their food is always hot. It is healing for me whenever I noticed I’ve missed a meal and am craving their food. The staff is always helpful and friendly. When it comes to customer service this makes all the difference in the world! Spread a little Aloha!

Coming from a local braddah, lived in Hawaii 28 years and in Idaho 25 years.

We came on opening weekend Friday with 30 minutes to closing, so I’m glad we got our food with no substitutions. Food passes (it’s good). If you are hungry for local food – go to L&L. But if you are looking for real authentic Hawaiian Plate Lunch, you have to make your own or go to Hawaii. Mac Salad- needs flavor; rice- little too dry; cabbage- ok; Teri beef, chicken curry, fried and loco moco was ok; fried mahi needs to cook more; bbq ribs was probably the best. We ordered 3 types of musubi – is good but needs more flavor. Btw you need to request katsu sauce and tartar sauce.
Definitely will satisfy the need for local food when not home. We are coming back for second try on Sunday.

(Continued). Came back on Sunday at 1pm. Sunday lunch was just as busy but we actually got seats for five. Lots of people , people standing waiting. Food was better than Friday. I have to say the garlic shrimp was onolicious and the chicken garlic chicken, gotta have it. I still say that the food needs more salt and that’s just how like I like it. Would I go again, absolutely! You gotta go try it. What can I say? Today so much better than Friday (hey, it’s opening weekend so gotta give grace but give honest feedback). I went with friends who also enjoyed and saw lot of locals there too.

I’m so happy to have an L&L here finally! We come here when craving for local food but too lazy to cook myself The katsu, saimin, BBQ mix plate are all great choices! My kid approves so it’s worth the 40-minute drive from my house. Thanks for feeding me & my ‘ohana!

*Yum* there is no wait time, food is marinated well and tastes great, atmosphere is nice and bright, parking is good! Defiantly prefer L&L to Mo Bettahs due to better marinade, less salty, and better service.

Driving through in a long road trip. I ordered the garlic shrimp plate. The shrimp was very good, fresh tasting, and crispy. There was no garlic though (zero garlic) i think maybe they just forgot to put it on as a sauce or cook it in it. I am not sure how it is supposed to come, but there was no garlic present. Service is what could have upgraded the experience. There were two cashiers, one was super friendly and helpful the other not so much. I let the cashier (not so helpful) know i had not been there before and I was looking at the menu. No help in understanding anything. I placed my order and while waiting the other cashier was super helpful to the people who she was helping. Explained you can have all rice if you do not want macaroni, offered a drink for $1. Great info to have known when I was ordering. I went back up and asked if I could have all rice instead of the macaroni and was told they already plated my food but then waited 7 more minutes for it. Did not make sense to me. Such an easy request to support. A bit short sighted of them to not.

Overall food was really good even though I did not get the garlic shrimp I ordered. The shrimp I did get was cooked really well, just needed flavor.

Cashier I had kept coughing in her hand but did not sanitize or wash her hands after, she handles the closed food containers and not the food directly but still should be thoughtful especially with flu season. The lobby smelled good and was very clean as well.

I think it just comes down to who helps you there. Could be a great experience with the right training of staff.
