L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. In Hawai’i, food brings us together, whether to celebrate a milestone or simply refuel after an afternoon surf session.

Nice spot to try some Hawaiian dishes. I went for a late lunch with a friend and tried the BBQ Short Ribs and Chicken. My Friend got the Short Ribs and Chicken Katsu. All grilled meats were delicious but the sides were plain. I ordered a side of mixed veggies and they had no seasoning at all. Overall it was okay. The staff were great and friendly. I will return to try some other dishes.

Your typical layout like all L&L.

The service was excellent!

The food was okay. I ordered the teriyaki beef and spam musubi. The musubi has gotten half the size, unless they made it smaller as it was free with purchase.
The teriyaki beef was thicker and not tasty at all. I asked the employee/manager (not sure if he was the manager, but I think he said he didn’t work up front often as I was asking questions).
He said the beef was thin cut, it wasn’t.
At least when I am in town and staying at the hotel next door, I won’t be returning to this location.

As Polynesians, this was our first stop to our trip to Charleston. We ordered the chicken katsu curry and katsu sauce, a mix plate (Kalua with BBQ chix) and 2 musubis (spam wrapped Nori/seaweed w/rice). We later ordered two more musubis to go. Food portion was great couldn’t finish the katsu chix but that buggah was still good later on the day. They also had Hawaiian Sun drinks. The bill came out to be about ~$38. You can pay in either cash, debit/credit. Restrooms are also available, plenty of parking. Highly recommended for people who are from Hawaii and looking for that ‘local’ Hawaiian cuisine. The only negative part of this was they did not have laulau, they haven’t had laulau for a month. Other than that, everything was great. We will visit again.

If you’re craving some Hawaiian BBQ then look no further! The place is nicely decorated, has a large menu, and also has what might be the whole lineup of Hawaiian Sun fruit drinks. I got the Kalua pork mix with Chicken Katsu.

I got the Lau lau and my son got the Saimei. It was great! Almost close enough like being on Kauai.

Aloha! I have been missing kalua pork since I had the real deal in Hawaii. This place delivers! One bite and I was transported via tender smoky succulent pork to that luau. It is perfect. No loose fat; tender, juicy hunks of meat falling into perfect shreds. Naturally sweet, perfectly smoky, no need for any additions. This place may make my list of Top 10 BBQ joints for the pork alone!

The cabbage was simple, boiled but not to death, and I put a packet of the Sriracha sauce on one side of a rice scoop and a packet of soy on the other half. I left the other rice scoop plain in case I wanted a palate cleanser. This macaroni salad is wrong. It is a ghost. How can it be so bland? Adding anything would be an improvement. Relish. Kim chi. Mango chutney. Literally ANYTHING. Those are accents; the pork is the reason we are here. 100% smoked perfection.

The Dragon musubi was a fun treat. I think they are using low-sodium Spam, which I prefer, and their preparation was ideally balanced. The special BBQ sauce was a Polynesian style blast from the past, thick and sweet and smoky.

Hubby had the Loco Moco, which is basically Hawaiian huevos rancheros. 2 hamburger patties smothered in beef gravy over rice. The stars, 2 over-medium eggs on top, arrived perfectly runny. He said (between bites) it would be a winning hangover remedy.

I am thrilled to have true Hawaiian BBQ here and will definitely be back for more!

My husband was so excited to eat here after moving away from a location that had tons of Hawaiian BBQ around. While it was not the absolute best, it was very good considering it is the only option and a chain! The portions were big and the chicken Katsu curry easily lasted three meals. The employees were super friendly and the location itself was clearly decorated with love.

Finally a Hawaiian BBQ restaurant in Charleston! Although I do wish it wasn’t an L&L.

To be honest, I’ve never been partial to their thick mac salad with the little flecks of tuna in it. Curry had a weird bitterness and the patties and gravy on my loco moco could have been better-seasoned as well.

Overall not bad, just could be better. Prices are a bit crazy, too, but you do get a lot of food. Regardless, after moving here from Las Vegas where there is a Hawaiian BBQ restaurant on nearly every corner, I am incredibly grateful to finally have one here in Charleston to scratch that itch periodically. Staff is very friendly as well!
