We love the chicken katsu here and get it every time. But this last time it was just awful. It was dried out, stringy and cold, even though it was picked up on a busy Saturday with a ton of foot traffic – a day you’d think they’d have high turnover with fresh food. I guess they made a huge batch in the morning expecting a large crowd so it sat around for hours? I may give the place one more try and if it’s anything like today, I’ll never go back.

Yummy yummy yummy! Love coming here. It reminds me of my vacations to Hawaii. I either get the bbq mix platter or the chicken katsu. If you’re in the mood to share… just split one. The orders are huge. I always can’t believe how much food they serve. The dishes we get come with rice and macaroni salad.

Food here was fantastic for the most part. The portion sizes were very generous! So much so that I was genuinely surprised when I opened my box.
I was a bit disappointed that the chicken didn’t have any or much sauce on it. It wasn’t completely without flavor, but I’m a saucy girl and cannot eat meat without it. Attempted to use the “teriyaki sauce” that is provided, but it’s pretty liquid-y. Not really sauce if you know what I mean.
Bit cold inside on a cold day outside, but they’re working really hard in the kitchen, so maybe they keep it cool inside for the workers who are probably breaking a sweat cooking up the delicious beef and short-ribs.

Nice to have this place here in Hawks Prairie now. I went in and ordered the Loco Moco. It comes with 2 beef patties on top of a bed of white rice with brown gravy and 2 eggs (cooked to order) and a side of macaroni. The flavor is good. My only complaint would be the beef patties where over cooked and dried out, they were gritty texture like you get from way over processed beef. The staff were friendly and the prices are reasonable. The tables in the restaurant needed to be cleaned. ALL OF THEM!. I was trying to give the benefit of a doubt that they were busy with dinner rush and were not yet able to wash the tables. But I was the only guest for about 10-15 minutes while waiting for my order to be made and the 2 employee behind the counter just stood there talking while waiting on the kitchen staff to make the orders. I will give them another opportunity as the other locations I’ve been to have not had these issues. Please do better!

There was enough food in that one plate to feed me 3 times! My only criticism might be that I could’ve used more sauce… but, being my first time there, I didn’t know I might need more until I got home and opened the feast (and it WAS a feast).
UPDATE: As per L&L’s reply, I ordered again tonight and asked for extra sauce, and these guys really hooked me up! MAHALO and aloha nui loa!!

It’s been years since I had L & L (in Hawaii). This location did not disappoint. The service was good and the food filled me up, I had to take it home and eat it later!

Late post, but all worth mentioning. Grew up with this food chain while in High School. Absolutely love the menu item, especially if I’m craving for fame deep fried islander food and starch. Located in Lacey Plaza where Home Depot and Coldstones are located in. They finally opened a spot where it can be accessed easier. Few locations are in Tumwater and Lakewook/Tacoma area as well.
Clean, hipster environment. Hope they manage to keep it up. Staff are friendly and cheery. Average price just like anywhere else.

It’s hard to NOT love this place, the portions are always big, & the food is always amazing!
If you have not been here yet for some reason, get the BBQ mix plate if you like meat, rice, and macaroni salad. It’s the best overall, but also if you just want a particular meat, those options are great as well.
The Musubi Trio is also another amazing option, if you have never had Musubi it’s like sushi but better.
I’ve been coming to L&L for years and will continue to do so, this particular one is a little small but great.
